The clamps are just like horsehoes that fit over the exhaust pipe then the damper, end brace and nuts go on to hold it all together. Study the photos, look at exhaust clamps photos etc. It is a simple enough project although you may have to lift up the vehicle, depending on how large you are. Always use jack stands!
Thanks. So I got the appropriate clamps and completed the installation. Noticed that the drone at 1500 rpm’s have definitely vanished. However, some higher rpm drone still exists. Along with this, I now hear a little bit of a rattling noise.
How tight has everyone torqued down the nuts? I feel like I can keep tightening but don’t want to risk bending anything. Also, what can I do for my drone at higher rpm’s (2800 ish)? Hopefully I’ve installed them in the correct locations.
It looks good and should be tight enough so they don't loosen up. You can always put on another nut as shown in the photos in prior posts. Or use some lock washers or Loctite thread locker if really worried about this issue. I would just leave as is and check them in a month or so.
You probably have to just live with the other drone as part of the RX350 experience we all endure.
You can try to change the mounting angleto offset one from the other. That might help with the higher rpm vibes. Tighten them good and tight. Locktite won’t work due to very high temps from the cat converter.

Found this thread and decided to join the site, Currently dealing with our '19 RX350 and the droning noise which has gotten worse. We're at 120k miles and after the 120k service I we really noticed. After having it checked and reviewed by Lexus service and a Master Service mobile service plus reading this thread we know what we're dealing with. We did find out ours already has a damper, assuming its the 2019 version of a "fix". All hangers and rubber appear to be pliable and not broken. Next step is reading the full thread and then most likely adding a damper and maybe some extra rubber hangers. So thanks for all that's contributed, happy to be here.
Does anyone know what kind of clamp is appropriate? It's difficult to find information on this. I have a 2008 rx350
Measure the diameter of the exhaust pipe where you want to mount the dampers and purchase 2 Stainless Steel (NOT carbon steel) muffler clamps for each damper

Good afternoon. This is my first post on the forum, but not my first time here. We have a 2010 RX350 FWD that we purchased new, and now has 193K miles on it. My wife is the primary driver. We both noticed about 2 months ago a droning sound coming from the front engine compartment that was definitely not there before. It is not noticeable until it reaches 49-50 mph, then it is like a switch went on. Doesn't then matter if your foot is on the accelerator or not--the droning continues until it drops down below 49-50 mph. I have noted some posts here about front wheel bearings, and that sounds like (poor choice of verbage) a possible candidate. Anyone else experience anything like this. Obviously, it is something that has just happened. We are both quite familiar with the noise in this vehicle after more than 15 years and 193K+ miles. As a side note, we put a set of Michelin CrossClimate2 tires on the vehicle about 5-6 months ago, but this doesn't sound anything like road noise or tire noise--feels/sounds like a fan going bad. Any help is greatly appreciated. I plan to take it in tomorrow or Tuesday to our local mechanic (not the Lexus dealer) and see if they have any ideas.

It could be, but you'll need to check. I have the exact same vehicle as you and I have had to change both wheel bearings (L/R) and also noticed that my CV on the drive side is leaking grease. I am getting ready to swap it out with a new one from RockAuto and will let you know if that fixes it.
Droning - is more of an engine (unwanted) "growl" that a lot of the peeps here fixed by adding more sound dampener to the exhaust pipe.
The noise I have currently is more "cyclical"/"rhythmic" and directly related to speed/wheel rotation.

This is exactly how you do it. I bought the clamps with 3/8" bolt size instead of the normal 5/16". (ie stronger and fit the damper better) I used double nuts instead of lock washers. The 2nd nut was a self locking type. I also used 2 flat washers - one on each side of the damper as shown in the photo

Thanks Jim. This is an excellent solution. We bought our 2015 RX base with 95k miles a few years ago. When I first test drove it, I noticed the very loud drone within the first minute of the test drive but I bought it anyway. I already had an RX and 2 Highlanders with the same drivetrain so I knew the car was fine and had an idea that the sound was coming from the exhaust system. None of our other vehicles had the issue. It's a very deep, hollow and loud droning between 1500 and 2000 RPM, most noticeable in 5th gear at lower speeds. I came across this solution so I purchased the 2 parts from Toyota and installed the one next to the hanger this past weekend. It's amazing how much quieter it is now, really almost "normal". I hope to install the other one very soon.
