Default Engine sound

Anyone notice the supercharger like sound when you're revving really hard? It's hard to explain. You know those Nissan commercials a few months back where the Altimas are going really fast and blows by you? It made a really distinctive "ssssssssssssssss" sound. Sounds electric almost but not a "rrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" type sound. Ughhh, I'm making it worse.

Just try it. Punch down the accelerator really hard and listen carefully. But anyways, what causes that particular sound? Vaccuum? Pressure?

I could be wrong but it should have something to do with the direct injection.
