I have a question about a sound that I hear on my IS-F. Occasionally I hear a sporadic ticking sound near the valve cover on my engine. One day it will be on the left side, another it maybe on the opposite side. The sound is not a cyclical sound but a tap tap.........tap tap tap.... tap... and so forth. I actually brought my car into service to have this checked out but they said my engine was fine. I wanted to see if there were any others out there that have the same sound from their engine.

 

I believe that is the direct injection noise. Without it, you'll be slow.

Its either, Fast and noisy or Slow and Quiet.

isnt it just the valves moving up and down?

 

It's a sporadic sound. Last night I met up with some IS members on this board and they asked me about the sound. Could be the valves. I should record it.
