I'm unfamiliar with your terminology. What do you mean by reloaded? A message on the navigation screen or what? I'm curious as to what happened.

Thanks,

In 16 months, I've never seen this message. However, I've also never had a CD in the audio system. Is it possible you have a CD in the audio system and it reloads after powering up the car?

Perhaps someone else on the list is familiar with this message. Sorry, I'm no help with this problem....

Just a couple more questions:

Did the message specifically say "Reloading HDD"?

Is it possible it said "loading"? I ask this as I just drove into the garage while selecting a satellite channel and it said "Loading". Which I assume it was seeking a satellite to get the channel listings, thereby Loading the index.

??

Never seen this on gen3 RX, but did see it on gen2 RX when I took the navi dvd out and back into the drive.

Yup! The hdd reloaded itself and all my POI's were gone. Addresses saved were still there tho. No biggy, just needed to reconfigure my POIs.

I'm not an expert, but you've got a computer with a hard drive and it's starting to reboot itself and deleting information when it does and there is no possible way for user error to cause this data loss....

Sounds like a warranty issue to me.

Yeah, only happened once so far. I'm betting that I can't replicate the problem whole taking my car thru service. I think I'll just leave it till it happens again...

Does anyone know where the harddrive is located? Maybe it's just a loose connection.

Just wanted to revive this older thread. Has anyone else had this issue?

This morning after driving for about 30 minutes in stop and go traffic with the radio on an fm station, all of a sudden the sound cut out and the infotainment screen went black for me. after about 5 seconds a message popped up reading exactly "system rebooting. do not turn power off" along with a picture of a HDD and a progress bar below the message. after about 30 seconds, my nav map came back and i was able to turn on the radio again.

i haven't checked my POI's yet, but it seems this is the same thing that's happened to the OP. just wondering if anyone had a recurring instance of this. i drove for about 30 more minutes with nothing out of the ordinary. i doubt it's worth a trip to service as i cannot replicate it.

thanks for any help.

I would think this would show up in the "event log" in the black box. (not sure of real names) Somewhere in a log maintained by a computer in the car and would be a readable file read by the appropriate service tool by your dealership.
