Question Screen - Nav/Audio Defect?

I recently purcahsed the RX 350 and the navigation system screen keeps getting grayed out when driving

at first I thought it was a safety feature. But it does it even when I am playing mp3 songs. The folder list gets grayed out? Ditto on the phone, when trying to add an address while driving.

The problem disappears when I brake or when car is parked.

is this a safety feature? and if so am i the only one who thinks it is ridiculous to have this feature for the screen when using the phone and the CD player?

Thanks

yes, this is standard on all lexus models. i am surprised your salesman didn't point it out before you bought it; not that it should sway your decision much, but it's nice to know before you commit.

in any case, do a search on clublexus, you can find tips and tricks for getting around the safety features if you desire. specifically, go the IS forum since that model has had the Gen 5 nav for a few months now. just do a search for override.
