My grandparents have a 2009 RX350 with HID headlamps, and the right side one has moisture inside. A new headlamp assembly around $2000, which they do not want to pay. Is it possible to take these headlamp assemblies apart and reseal them to prevent moisture from getting in?
Yes, but before you do take out the access panel for the bulb replacement, place a hairdryer in there, and let it air/dry out best you can.
Otherwise you have to take it out of the car, place in the over to take off the lense, and put it all Back together.
people have also put tiny silica packets In the assemblies to try to dry out them out
In my past 2 GSs, the moisture seemed to be getting in from the plastic cover on top of the headlight, that lets you see the headlight level. On those cars, I was able to tighten down the cover with Phillips screwdriver, but I don’t know if it’s the same for the RX or if it’s even the same cause. I remember there was a TSB/warranty on moisture in the headlights, but I would be shocked if the car was still covered. No harm in checking though

Has the car ever been in an accident or damaged in that area? If so the housing could be cracked. Also, check that all the vents on the light are not plugged and the cover on the back is secure.
