Default Airbag Height adjustment

OK, new guy, 74 YO and that makes me an old gear head. GTO's, 68 Z28 etc etc. Now I have a 2004 Lexus GX470 with 92K and pretty plush. Learning an entirely new vehicle. I will get there but for now, going to have to ask a lot of silly questions. Just put new 265 70 17 inch General Grabber ATX's on stock rims. Now, this is the issue. Having read about 2000 threads on shocks tires and suspensions, I am having Bilstein 5100's installed Thursday. At this time she looks a little goofy. Shocks are shot but airbags work fine. Currently on Low setting from cement to fender lip running straight up through middle of rim is 35 ¾", Normal setting is 36 5/8" and high is 38 ¼". Just seems like the standard setting is to high and it looks bad meaning way to high for the front end. I have looked and hear about adjusting the bags. I have seen how to raised them with the washer trick but how do you lower the rear end or can it be done. Bottom line is I think under the normal setting it is oddly to high???

never heard any complaints about too high here...mostly people are lifting their truck. rear height sensors are adjustable, careful too low and the axle will bottom out on the bump stops.

yea, I'm clear on the no complaints of too high. Maybe with the 5100's it will level out and look ok. Thanks for the reply!

Your measurements do seem a little high. When I still had airbags, my “Normal” Stock height measurement using the method you described was around 35 3/4”. However, there is a more specific method for stock height measurement/adjustment that is posted on one of the airbag threads on this site.

Shocks should not really be adjusting height. The springs or air-bags determine height.

4321 I was referring to the front 5100's that are adjustable with the coilers. Might have explained it badly but the front is lower that the back so went with them and set them on the notch for 1 ¾" rise in the front and stock in the rear. Sorry for the confusion
