1999 RX300. Recently change both upstream O2 sensors and alternator.
When I go to start the engine the it spins but wont catch. If I "feather" the gas pedal it will fire up right away. Runs and drives just fine as long as I drive "two-footed" and always keep some pressure on the gas pedal. As soon as I take my foot off the gas the RPMs drop to zero and the engine will cut out.
Thanx for the insights fellas. Like I said earlier, it ended up starting, running, and driving just fine. I'll go ahead and clean up the IACV this weekend for good measure. Anything else it might be? Also, forgot to mention, I never got any CEL or trouble codes.
Fuel pressure valve. It's on the fuel rail. What you describe is a very rich mixture, as by feathering gas pedal you simply let more air in, not more fuel. Then O2 sensor tells ECM what to do with petrol supply. Could as well have been leakage in injectors, so you have to run car the "flooded" way.
Either way, it's something related to air/fuel mix. Maybe even clogged air filter.
Far I know automotive gremlins, if it "fixed itself" only means it will come back with vengeance and in the least suitable situation.
