Need help with my rx 300 year 2000 120.000 miles i was told that one of my valve lifter is making that noise . The knock does not go away even after the engine warms up.i do cahnge my oil every 3000 miles im using penzoil platinum syn. Oil.so what do i do with the knocking noise?
It could be a worn out lifter and hopefully it did not damaged the head.
You need to figure out which lifter it is. Maybe you get lucky and it's in Bank 2 ( radiator side)
If it's a broken valve spring. It's still doable w/out taking the head off.
Worse case scenario is a broken valve.

I was under the impression that they are hydraulic lifters which take some time to fill up and the chatter goes away. Now need to come up with another explanation for the cold morning chatter with wider wider range engine oil (W weight).
Artbuc , code58 and carguy are right.
These are solid lifters that are shimmable if the clearance is too big.
I think the "GR" motor in the 350 are hydraulic though.
The OP stated it was a "knock".
Which leads me to believe something is broken or severely worn.
Hopefully it's a "tick" or a "tapping" noise instead.
I have had chatter in the winter months. I have recently replaced the knock sensors and the weather has warmed up. [My cel kept coming back during Dec and Jan]. I will monitor and report back.
