Default '99-'01 AWD RX's without transmission problems

A recent post about the potential percentage of failues got me thinking. I'm curious to gather a data sample from anyone who has gotten high mileage on an original '99-'01 AWD tranny. My '01 AWD RX has 86k miles. Knock on wood I'm still running the original transmission.

For what it's worth, mine has a production date of July 2001. I'm holding out hope they phased in some of the '02 changes later into the '01 production year.

Mine is a 2000 awd rx. I have 115,000 miles....I have maintained mine starting at 50,000. FIRST DRAIN AND FILL TRANNY FLUID WAS VERY BROWN...Drain and fill until cherry red, then every 20,000 miles drain and fill again. At 105,000 pulled pan and installed new filter and cleaned magnets....shifts as good as the day I bought it.

blueridger,

Mine is a 2001 AWD with the factory towing package. Got 119,000 miles. I've had the Toyota folks (no Lexus dealer nearby) flush and fill the tranny three times in the last six years. No tranny problems thus far. Have had some minor stuff go bad; cruise control, door chime, cabin air actuator. Overall we love the RX!

1999 AWD with towing package (transmission cooler), 135,000 miles. No problems yet, flushed and filled at 30,000 (Type IV) and 90,000 (Mobil 1 synthetic). Fingers crossed.

2000 AWD w/ 168k miles - recent flush, pan drop, filter and new transmission lines - also no issues to report. prior to this flush, the previous owner had the dealer do it at 90k miles, tho it did not appear they ever dropped the pan or replaced the filter.

We have an 01' AWD with tow package okay at 98K, and an 01' AWD with 115K and so far so good. I have no idea if they are original tranny's or not. Both were bought used 3 months ago, and have no idea how to tell if either was replaced. Aside from the annoying CEL and VSC lights on all the time now in my RX, we are happy with them.
