Thanks for all of the responses. I'm glad to see some folks getting 150k+ on their trannys!

I was wondering if you had the paperwork for those transmission lines being replaced. If they are the ones that were corroded in the front of the vehicle, I've been looking to replace these on my RX as well.
thanks

We have a 01 (Wife's aka "Lexi Blue") with 98,000 miles. Bought it with 45,000 and changed fluid two or three times. I have a 00 (Mine aka Lexter") with 129,000 miles. Bought it with 100,000 mile. Knew owner who had it serviced by Lexus religiously.

Knock, Knock, Knock....

Both have original trans and running fine.

Do have some lock (passengers rear) and window (passenger front) isses but you won't hear me complain.

JohnLX300, not sure what paperwork you are asking about, but i replaced those transmission lines myself just a few weeks ago. part costs about $80 from the dealer. the job isnt very difficult, just really messy.

Just met some one on a gas station who was driving 2000 rx300 AWD. His rx has 310k miles on it with transmission replaced 5k miles ago. His first transmission lasted 305k miles!! He did say he has done regular maintenance and hasnt had any other major problems. Now thats impressive!

It also depends on how you drive the vehicle whether you can keep it lasting as long in addition to things like climate.

just hit 85k on my 01 RX300 AWD; original owner.

Tranny oil replaced by dealer at 30k. Just replaced again this past weekend at a littl less than 85k.

Default Transmission Service

The transmission in my 2002 AWD RX 300 was serviced at 45,000 miles by the original owner at the selling Lexus dealership.
After I bought the vehicle I had the transmission flushed at 79,800 miles and then in addition (because I read so many reports of what a flush job can do to these RX trannys) at 80,100 miles I had the transmission pan dropped and the filter cleaned together with cleaning the magnets, and new fluid installed.
I will probably do another pan drop and fluid change at 100,000 miles.
I noticed a marked difference in the transmission shift characteristics after the initial service (much more positive and smoother).
I am treating my transmission very gently in an effort to help prevent any future potential problems.

I would like to also add that I live on a large hill. So my first ride of the day is downhill. I rarely warm my RX up when I start it. When I go down hill in the morning, I look for my "shifts".
I have to go about 37mph, reving about 3000 rpm to find one. Another one later on with usually less rpm.- After the RX is warmed up it shifts easier.
-I think, if my startup drive was different, and I had to go up hill or jump right out on a highway, my transmission would not have lasted this long-
I change my fluid 2 times a year. (Roughly every 20,000 miles with type IV Toyota)
I have always done just the drain and fill, but the last time I did the pan drop. -My magnets did have some metal on them.
I'm hoping its "normal wear" for my milage.
