Default G-Force Chip

Hey, does the G-Force Chip actually help your car or is it just a waste of money? Also does it change the sound of your car at all and is there any other way to do that without getting a whole exhaust system?

it does not change the sound of your car at all.

only way to do that is to change the physical acoustics of the car through modified intake and exhaust systems.

If you don't want to get an exhaust system then just buy an intake.

When I had the JoeZ, I noticed about a 1-2 mpg gain. Intakes are mostly just for sound though

Most intake kits claim increased Hp, MPG, torque. I believe it's a squash because whatever MPG you save, you waste by pressing the accelerator to hear the roar!

JoeZ or F-sport are the only worthwhile options. The JoeZ is available from L-tunedparts and F-sport from Sewell.

This will make it sound like its got a little bit of exhaust? Is the F-sport a pipe too or just the filter? Which one would be better?

If you want loud, get an open-air filter intake like Fujita, aFe, Takeda, K&N, etc. Downside is that you lose a few hp due to heatsoak (although you probably will never feel a difference). These are also known as SRI (Short Ram Intakes), but some manufacturers lazily call them cold air intakes. There are no true cold air intakes available commercially for the 2IS.

If you want "power" (5 whp, tops), go with JoeZ or FSport.

Define "better off with"

The Joe Z is a little cheaper and supports a forum member who makes parts for these cars...and there's a couple choices for color (but possibly a wait)

The F-sport is an OEM part that's largely a copy of the Joe Z for a little more $, only one color but probably available 'right now'...and it's "legal" in CA (which is probably not a real concern for you).

I'd be pretty surprised if anyone could measure or demonstrate any functional difference.

Given none actually exist, I'm gonna go with yes

Anyone who claims they're selling one is lying
