Default auto locking when walking away

Does the NX model have the ability to lock automatically if the car is off and the key is in the house? I've been reading conflicting comments and having been able to make it work yet. My wife keeps her key fob in her purse thinking the doors will lock automatically, like her old Mazda.

I know the lock and walk away button with the rear hatch but I'm just talking about getting out of the drivers door and going inside.....and having the car lock automatically. (assuming all the doors are shut, the engine is off, and the key is in the house)

Unfortunately, no, at least on my 22. Only the rear hatch option.

Push inside lock , green light comes on , close door car locked. Pretty simple easy alternative solution that is very easy to implement.

YMMV,

The manual also gives that as a setting you can have your dealer do.

I'm hoping you have an iPhone, that you installed the shortcuts from the Lexus App, and that this is enough info to help you write your own Apple Automation that will:
------------------------------------------------
Run Immediately
WHEN CarPlay disconnects
DO
Wait (x seconds) and Remote Lock Vehicle
-------------------------------------------------------------

It shouldn't matter where your keys are to work. Also the only time it doesn't work is when I spend time fiddling in the car or trunk for a period of time longer than x seconds. If I remember there are so me other events (other than CarPlay disconnect) to select that might work better for you. Try AI for more help and LMK if this works for you.

An important note on the door locking technique that Midcow3 posted. While pressing the inside door lock button
will lock the doors, this action will Not: alert the Lexus App, fold the mirrors (if equipped and enabled) or set the alarm.
If the Lexus App does not know the car is locked, you cannot remote start from the phone. If you attempt to "relock"
the car from the phone App it will report that the car is already locked...but will not allow the remote start command.
Best way to lock a Lexus is to touch the outside door handle with a key fob or card key present.
Confirming that there is No setting or procedure to enable "walk away" locking for any Lexus of any year.

It is a shame Lexus does not have a walk away lock function like Toyota just for an extra security measure. Sure the app will eventually tell you, but it’s just such a simple feature, why not include it?

It kinda of like the children who go to school in my neighborhood that catch a bus. At every bus stop the parents have to drive and drop off the kids at the bus stop. The kids can't seem to walk to the bus stop. Back in the old days I never rode a bus to school, I walked over a mile to and from school in snow, ice, rain heat. Today, everyone looks for the easy way out.

Peace to all.

Started bing watching The Sopranos last week, said to my wife 'You never see Tony locking his SUV when he gets out', then we both said together 'pretty sure everyone knew who's car it was so he didn't need to worry about it!' Those were the days, as midcow3 mentions. We would go on vacation for a few weeks and never even locked up our house! Now I step out of my car in my own driveway and I lock it right away.
