I'm preparing to purchase the NX for my wife, however I'm worried about a brand new model markup. Does Lexus allow their dealers to do this, especially those $1k "trim" jobs?

there is no markup for sure... but you will quite likely get some discount 6-10 months in, that you could not get right away.

I suppose on a new model with high demand, there will be dealers adding "protection" packages etc. To a vehicle like the NX.

More info:
The new NX will have the following features:
4 surround cameras
wireless phone (device) charger
electric foldable rear seats
motion sensor for interior lamps/map lamps
touch pad instead of "mouse" for remote touch system
"extra wide" head up display
new white color: 085 Sonic white
^^^ I'm skeptical of the power fold down rear seats, at least for the N.American market. Give me heated (and cooled) rear seats first over this any day. I'd love (and want) the HUD. Features overall look very promising and that Sonic White color will also be introduced on the RC F-Sport if I'm not mistaken
Thanks, if those shots are out there, more will show up soon. I bet it will have a large 4cyl and no hybrid system. Even if it had the same one as the ES300h, that one is only rated at 40mpg so this one being even a small SUV would probably get less. I'm getting 30-32+ in my RX450h. But of course it wouldn't be $55K plus either.
3.5 V6 will be an option, FOR SURE. You can get a V6 in the RAv4. You can bet you will on the NX

I seriously doubt that there will be a V-6 option. No V-6 in new RAV4 so it likely the architecture won't support the V-6. Everything I have heard says a turbo 4 or a 4 cyl hybrid.

No V6 for the NX. Registered trademarked names back in Oct/Nov 2012 are only two: NX 200t and NX 300h. Consistent with the rest of the Lexus naming, this means the new 2L Turbo 4 cyl for the former name, and the existing 2.5L Lexus Hybrid Drive (possibly tweaked) for the latter name.
