Official Lexus NX thread
The media days open on Tuesday and Lexus hasn't issued so much as a press release or notification, but they did with the RC F Sport. Usually, they would have issued a "Lexus will display the all-new ..." Press release by now. Maybe they will surprise us last minute.
So they won't announce the NX, what a bummer.
They probably want to keep some of the attention on the RC for the time being.
I hope since I've been following the NX (CX) for almost three years now and I will soon be in the market for a new SUV!
Part of the reason for the declining Waterfall/Tombstone dash designs like only the GX and LX have now is because of the technology. We were discussing this in the RT Thread. The loss of the touchscreen and addition of Remote Touch and other systems such as iDrive, MMI, COMAND allows for recessed navigation and opens up dash designs which is why the CT, IS, ES, GS, LS, RX and LFA all have Horizontal Layers. Simply put it's a trend in the industry, just like some pop up Navi's are a trend ala CT, CLA, Mazda3 etc..

Now it just doesn't 'feel right'
The pop up Navi's are pure cost cutting. It's cheaper than a completely integrated system.
With the LS460 the interior was intended with a vertical dash
Now it looks like its a compromised design, which it probably is.

Also bring back touch screen. A much cleaner & intuitive interface!

Yeah good point. But I really much prefer the vertical theme of the original L-finesse scheme. It just had a fuller and more substantial look & feel.

And yes, cost cutting. The new 2014 CT navigation is no longer pop up either, it's a fixed screen.

I personally prefer the 2013+ LS dash, and the new horizontal Lexus design scheme. I like the big wide screen, I like it being high in the dash. The RTC takes some getting used to but works fine.
2012 isn't coming back...touchscreens aren't coming back. Best to accept that.
