I wouldn't be surprised if Lexus does bring the NX to market at a price point similar to what the RX was priced at when its second iteration was introduced in 2010. We were fortunate to find our barely driven RX 450h (with just 14,992 miles on it) at the Monterey Lexus dealer last November priced a couple thousand bucks below KBB's "good price" for a CPO '10 hybrid. Ours has the comfort and premium packages, with all their bells and whistles. I've noticed that starting with the '13 models or so, Lexus seems to have broken out some of those options and started selling them separately. So they're going in the direction of pricing well-optioned (but not over-the-top-optioned) RX's higher than they used to. It stands to reason then that the NX will fill the niche previously occupied by the RX as a kind of entry-level luxury crossover while the RX will become more upscale.

I was originally planning to wait for the NX to replace our '07 6-cylinder RAV4 Limited. But the '10 450h I found was just too good to pass up. (Bird in hand, and all that.) Now I'm thinking that it may turn out to suit us better than the forthcoming NX. From every interior picture of the NX that I've seen it looks like the center console runs continuously from the front seats to the back seats, which would make the NX a four-seater and thus less visitor friendly, plus I'm wondering what that would mean for cargo capacity with split seats. Less carrying capacity for people and stuff would rule it out as a workable vehicle for us, even though the hybrid version would probably return better mpg than the RX 450h does. Still, per the car's computer we're averaging better than 31 mpg in the 450h lately (with the wife driving it much more than I have been, because I can't take the helm for medical reasons). The 31 mpg is per the car's computer, which inflates your mpg. I'm pretty sure of that because when I calculate mpg at the pump it always comes out lower than the computer's predicted mileage at fill-up. But per Fuelly, our 450h returned nearly 31 mpg at the last "fuelup." I can live with mpg like that, for sure.

^^^ Yeah, at this point it's anyone's guess on pricing, capacity, and fuel economy figures, but I highly doubt it will be a 4-seater. Still fun though to speculate and exchange views until then. 3 weeks to the reveal! ........

You'd think the pricing will be on the ballpark + or - of the previously mentioned competitors.

Agree. Problem is who are the competitors really? To this day, no one knows 100% for sure. Is it the X1 or the X3? Q3 or Q5? GLA or GLK, or like the RX was against its competitors, "in between"? There's a 6-7K price difference between these classes.

It wouldn't make much sense for them to bring out a 4-passenger crossover. But then, it seems you can sell somebody almost anything in the new-car market.

I like the new L-shaped triple LED headlights, makes it look distinctive at night and can't be mistaken for anything other than a Lexus!

Wow...looks like they stayed pretty true to the concept. Those lines on the side are almost identical!
