Member Help thread from a Lexus Certified Technician
nah no cel ... i will change the o2 sensors and the cat just for the sake of it. you think that will fix it ? and yeah i still have the factory exhaust.
Its hard to say. Normally if you fail an emissions its due to the cats malfunctioning and/or 02 sensors not working properly and when that happens you get a check engine light. I would replace those items and go from there.
You have two adjustments in the rear one is the camber arm and the other is the toe arm. They probably couldnt loosen the adjustment nut on either control arms and figured they tell you that its worn. How many miles do you have on it? Only thing that wears down is the bushings within the arms; You can purchase just the bushings and have them replaced. They will need to be pressed out. what were the numbers in the rear ? Did they give you a print out ?
No print out was given to me. He said each time he would adjust it, it would just go out of spec again. If it is my bushings, would you know where I could order these bushings. I dont recall if Lexus offers bushings.
Thanks!
There is a chance that your control arm may be damaged. Its hard to say without looking at the unit.

You will need item #10 and #8.
8 - adjusts your toe angle
10 - adjusts your camber

Hi! I have a 92 SC300 5spd. my problems consist of: rough idle, loss of power, and i can smell fuel. at start up the car sounds like it is misfiring, when i give it gas it struggles and sounds like it wants to die out. i can smell fuel around the engine bay, although it is very faint. 21 HO2S is the code i pulled, however the car ran fine with this code on for about 600 miles of driving... then one day it just started showing these symptoms.
so far i checked the MAF by swapping it out with one from another 300, i cleaned the IAC valve, i changed the spark plugs, and tried cleaning 2 of the o2 sensors on the exhaust side. im stomped as to what i should do next, please help! thanks!

Check all your vacuum lines, check your injectors if they are leaking, check to see if your harness is damaged anywhere, air leaks after maf sensor, check your oil cap and dipstick to make sure they are on tight, stuck egr valve. You may need to get it checked by a technician. I am limited to what I can tell you over the forum.
TACH,
First, thanks for taking the time and sharing your expertise. I have 93 SC300 5spd with just under 265k which I've owned since '99. My wife wants me to push it over a cliff but I won't let go.
The speedometer and tachometer work intermittently. When they work, they seem to be accurate. I've read several post that offer suggestions but no solutions. I haven't tried tapping/smacking the dash, which several people have suggested. One post said there is a plastic gear that can be replaced. Another suggested that the connectors on the back of the cluster are loose. Someone else suggested that there are motors in the cluster that can be replaced. Someone else replaced the speed sensor which didn't fix the problem. From what I've noticed, it works or it doesn't. The needles don't jump. I really don't want to replace the cluster. A new one is waaaayyy too much money an a used one that fits will be almost as old as what I've got. Plus, I'm rather proud of my 265,000 miles and don't want my car to be considered TMU.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You may just have a bad connection. You will need to remove the cluster and check all the wiring, due to the mileage you may just have a loose connection. The best way I can recommend you to test out the cluster is if you know anyone else with the same year or model to swap clusters and see if the problem still happens. If not then your cluster will need to be replaced. Finding parts for clusters are tricky and not worth the hassle.
I have a 1990 lexus ls400 that I just got , Im going to be as detailed as possible since i know that will help get me an answer. I bought it and it needed a starter , I changed the starter and it started and ran fine. I put new plugs and wires on it and it ran good. Then I got on it and it started to run on 4 cyls. Took it to school the next day and it turned out to be an exploded roter and cap. Replaced that side roter and cap. and it kept missing . replaced the other side and it still was missing . it misses so bad it will cut off once it warms up and its nearly impossible to drive. also the overdrive light is flashing. I have replaced the ignition coils (both) plugs , wires , roters , and caps. And it still runs like crap. Any help would be appreciated. thanks
also the check engine light is on ., and could the roter blowing up cause the timing to jump ? thanks alot. and if its not to much to ask could you pm me your thoughts on this whoever may answer this.
ok so i had a problem for a while when i brake in a turn the abs was kicking in and buzzing it was happening for a while. Now it doesnt happen i have abs vsc and vsc off lights on my dash. i put my scan tool on the car and no codes come up. So i figured that my abs sensors in the front were shot because i did springs a while back. I got used ones and they were tested and they were good i put them in today and still i have the lights. I checked the the rear abs sensors by taking out the back seats and they were also fine. Iam just stumped at this point does anyone have any sugguestions where i should take it from here?
just picked up another lex and in need of a few things.
92 es300 .. pedal goes all the way down to the floor, I hear a hissing sound when i step on the brakes. And when i pulled the front wheels off, I noticed that the front right caliper is completely clean of rust and the front left caliper is full of rust(car sat for a while before i bought it) so i know that caliper doesnt engage.
could it be the brake master cylinder or could it just be a vacuum line off, thanks again for the help.

Here is a test you can do. Raise the car and spin both front wheels if it spins freely the caliper is most likely o.k. If its very hard to spin or stops abruptly then you have a seized caliper.
