wanna save cash
Hi Guys,
just saved at least $120, and YOU can TOO. Dealer price for A|C filter for GS400, $41.For me,not a good price,so like any good CL member i did a search for A/C filter ,found a few ideas, home depot unit etc.Went to home depot but the filters there were not even close to the factory filter,ie.folds/inch and quality, so i decided to wash the filter i have.I have the K&N filter and the cleaner kit, problem solved. The cleaner for the air intake worked beautifully on the A/Cfilter,so even if you dont use the K&N filter, just buy the cleaner kit and you are good to go.

A/C filter should be changed every 15k. I just changed mine yesterday... it was quite dirty. The filter costs $60 at all the dealers in my area, so I contacted Carson Toyota and bought it for $30. The filter is located in the glovebox and takes 2 minutes to change.

A/C filter
The primary purpose of the A/C air filter is to prevent the food for bacterial spores from reaching the A/C evaporator core. Everyday airborne STUFF. I don't know this for sure, but I would suspect that the factory filter has an anti-bacterial chemical embedded within it.
With the advent of the new lower efficiency refrigerant the A/C evaporator core has had to be made much more dense and complex to make up for that loss of efficiency. That has led to a tremendous rise in the number of complaints regarding horrid mold and mildew, "dirty gym socks", odors in these vehicles.

I just bought mine two days ago from www.kragen.com. The part number is CF8769. It is a frame air filter. The cost for it was 27.99 and they have it in stock.

yeah ,the A\C filter, I had cleaned my intake filter the previous week, thats what gave me the idea to clean the A\C filter. ps . the K&N drop in really does trap a lot of dirt, but i really dont go by there recomended cleaning cycle. i inspect, and if it does not meet my expectations, it gets cleaned.
