I need some new wipers but i don't know weather to just go with regular bosch or the new ICON blades, anyone have these??? I would like to know how they look on some cars and perform compared to the standard, $20 per blade seems expensive.
When I had my 2002 ES300, I tried almost every brand made and style made. I tried the Valeo (Icon style) and hated them. They did not do what they were supposed to do in the winter weather. They were toted as "not freezing" and they did. Waste of money.
No matter what brand I tried I always came back to the the OEM Lexus brand. It was just better for longevity, least noise and ability to clear the windshield.
I just buy the Lexus brand inserts from Sewell online. I buy a bunch at a time and then get 10% more off for being a CL member.
unfortunatly my car is a little older now and the wipers have already been replaced with bosch, can i get a whole new blade from lexus or will the stock inserts go onto a bosch blade???
You'll probably need a new arm. I have the Bosch Icon right now and they work well for me. However, it doesn't rain as much and it definitely does not snow here so my experience will vary vastly with yours. But at the price, they are too expensive. You're suppose to replace the blades once every 6 months anyways. At this point, the OEM refills are very attractive.
Well i don't think its cost effective to buy new wiper arms just to get new blades, im not worried about freezing down here i just want some streak/noise free wiping. I will probably go with the bosch micro edge because i dont see where the ICON are worth double the price.
ok so i called carson today and was told OEM replacements will be about $20 ea plus $10 shipping.
So basicly now i have 3 choices regular bosch for $20, ICON for $40, or OEM for $50. The only upside to the OEM is that next time i need them i can get the refills for about $5 ea.
Go OEM. It'll be worth it once you've had to replace the bosch regulars 3x. It's either spend more now or later...with the Bosch being more expensive in the long run. I really wish I hadn't thrown out my OEM arms.

when you asked Carson the price was that for the arm or just the insert?
I get mt inserts from Sewell Parts Online and they are ~$7 and ~$5 each for the inserts. The only blade I have found to be noise free on my previous ES and now my GS are OEM inserts. By the way, you get 10% off from Sewell just for being a CL member.

steviej
Neither, it was for the blade which attaches to the arm and has the insert in it which i need to go back to oem because i have aftermarket bosch on now.
