Question Windscreen wiper blades

Does anyone know if the LS wiper blades are a special type?

Can they be replaced with non-OE ones?

The change in the marketplace for windshield wiper blades over the past few years ticks me off.

A few years ago, you could easily find the rubber inserts that would fit the Lexus metal wiper parts. For years, I used Bosch brand. They came in numerous lengths, were quite inexpensive, and were easy to fit onto the metal frame. I thought they worked great.

Recently, I have noticed that very few places still have the rubber inserts. Most folks are now selling the pre-assembled rubber and metal parts. If you want new wipers, you have to buy the whole thing.

To me, these things just don't work as well as the original Lexus blades with Bosch rubber inserts.
Perhaps the tension is different.

The Lexus dealerships still sell the rubber inserts. Unfortunately, they charge about $20-25. However, this is not much more than you pay for the pre-assembled rubber and metal blades.

I use Trico Exact Fits, they work great and are refillable.

I like the Napa exact fit's myself.....I assume they are very close to the Trico's.

On the Trico & NAPA's -- you are talking refills correct?

That was an option yes......however I replaced the entire 'blade assembly" but not the wiper arm mind you. Total of about $33.00 for the replacements & just in time too.....going to have some nasty weather during the next few days in Toronto. For some reason I like replacing the whole blade & not just the re-fills......the metal around my previous blades were starting to corrode so it was time from at least an appearance standpoint to get new ones.

Default Valeo Ulimate wiper blades on 90 LS400?

Has anyone used these or similar flat type blades (Bosch, Trico etc.) on their 90 LS400 please?
Some sites list them but others say they dont fit.
I know the driver and passenger sides have different attaching methods, but if regular aftermarket blades fit, why not the flat type?
I emailed Valeo, but they couldnt be bothered answering.
Thanks in advance.

Default Wiper Blade Brands

I changed the wiper blades on my 99 ls w/michelin brand blades and it seems they are too high or thick, causing the holder to hit the hood.

What brand wiper blades do you guys use and where do you get them?

The arms can be adjusted to compensate for this if the blades are the correct length for the car. I would take the car to an independent mechanic who hopefully does not sell wiper blades; the cost for the adjustment should be minimal.

I'm sure if the name Michelin is on the blades they are good ones.

I use RainX. I guess they're ok. My friend has some fat bosch's. They're thick and pretty good too.
