Default HID Install

All,

I just wanted to post up a quick note about HID installation. I will plan to post pictures in a follow up message. It was actually quite easy and I kept the AFS fully operational. I'm sure others have picked up on this, but the key is the 90 degree angle h11 bulbs as opposed to straight. This matches the stock set up. Also, I elected not to drill the center of the dust shields bit drilled at the very bottom, 90 degrees down to the ground. I lined the edge of the hole up with the edge of the plastic casting. This allowed me to leave a .33 inch extra length of wire on the headlight for AFS to work one rotated in place. The wire runs vertically instead of straight to the socket and mimics the OEM alignment. Others have likely realized this but I thought I would post it to pass on the knowledge.

Best,

That's smart; thanks for sharing! I got mine to work, and it has been going strong for 4 years. I drilled on center, and that meant that I had to do more work to get the proper "service loop" in there. Should've done what you did.

In my case, passenger side worked right off the bat; driver's side took a lot of trial and error, for some reason. And of course, the space constraints on that particular side made life a bit difficult. Totally worth it, though!

I bought the Kensun 4300k from Amazon with a matching set for fog lights. I'm sure the vendors on here have much better quality but I wanted to test the install.
