I've used valet service several times going back 20 years ago. For me, its less convenient to wait around for the pickup and the dropoff in my office or my home than it is to just go by the dealer during the course of my day.

Another benefit is the less people handle and drive your car, the less likely it is to get damaged. I'm not sure exactly why, but it seems like people at the dealerships have little regard for keeping a car looking nice. I keep my cars looking meticulous and I park the farthest I can from other cars, etc. Then I take it to the dealer and the service representative that checks you in places the wood clipboard on the top of my hood to write down the vin number as she leans on the fender with her keys dangling from her belt onto my hood. Things like this make me crazy! Needles to say I will NEVER let them wash my car. They probably use brillo pads.

I understand this. I hate the hand prints and smudges they leave on my windows, hood and doors. The dealership have a automatic car wash and I always tell them not to wash my car but sometimes they will do it anyway and it always looks worse.

I make the service advisor put it in the paperwork, wash the car right BEFORE I take it in AND I also have multiple signs all over the car that say, “Do Not Wash.” I know it’s extreme but that’s what has to be done.
