Sticky/cracked interior panel customer support program notification - ZLZ
Hi all, I will be attempting to do the complete dash with the StickyDashFix solution this coming weekend. My question was does anyone know how to remove the coin tray (left hand side of the steering wheel), or the trunk open button, and gas cap release panel... or other easier trim pieces i am able to remove around the dash making the applying of solution easier as masking tape has a hard time sticking to the surface. Is the wood trim easy to remove around the dash (above glove box). Any guidance and help would be appreciated. Thank you all in advance.
It's been since January 2020 that I've been waiting for my doors. I've been checking in every couple months to make sure things are still in order. A couple weeks ago I spoke to someone else at the dealership who wasn't familiar with my case. He took a couple days to look into it and found the response was that I was denied coverage on my doors!! So, I've been calling for almost 2 years and the line I was given was "Yep, doors are on order. Just wait more". Lexus drivers portal even shows an entry from early 2020 stating doors are on order. I've reached out to Lexus corp and they're investigating. I really hope they make things right! I've seen several examples of doors in better condition (not from wear) than mine and they've been covered no-questions-asked and no runarounds.
Lexus, if you're watching; please make this right!

I hope they make it right and it works out for you. It really icks me that Lexus denied fixing their problem on my car. The previous owners just drove it and didn’t know about the replacements or they just didn’t take the time to check into getting it done. Either way Lexus should have done me right by replacing this crappy dash and door panels.

I just now am getting this car from my father in law. I purchased it from him, it only has 91k miles on it and he never heard of this, older gentleman, and im curious if anyone has recently gotten this approved or an exception made? Its an 07 so im probably out of luck. The only crack is on the trim by the shifter. Let me know, Also how could i check if my vehicle fell under this recall or issue?

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY OF MY OWN ZLZ EXPERIENCE: Excellent, other than waiting for almost a year for the parts.
THE UGLY DETAILS: I took delivery of my 2007 LS460 base model, 117k miles, on 2021-03-24. I knew about these sticky dash & panel issues because they were the object of Extended Warranty Programs in some Toyota vehicles as well; my prior vehicle was a Toyota Avalon. So a bit of Googling and I learned of ZLZ even before I signed the papers for the LS460. I had the LS460 evaluated for ZLZ at my local Lexus dealership on 2021-03-29 (just two days before the unconstrained ZLZ expiration date). The evaluation took a full day and I was comped a free loaner vehicle. There were zero charges, just drive-away. The dealerships were (always) required to send pictures to Lexus-Corporate and obtain advance approval of ZLZ claims. My instinct was that, surely being one of the very last owners to seek ZLZ coverage before that expiration date, there would be a good bit of leniency & expediency in the Lexus-Corporate approval process. Indeed, Lexus-Corporate approved replacement of 7 of the 9 parts covered by ZLZ early the next day. I was approved for all four door panels, glove box, driver's lower instrument panel, (entire) center console box assembly. ('Rear console assembly' and 'upper dashboard/instrument panel' not replaced. The top of the dash, the dash pad, looks just fine; lucky me the prior owners had a dashmat on it.)
The vehicle also needs a driver's-side interior B-pillar lower panel replacement due to the same type of failure issue, the seat belt cracking & chunking it when retracting, but that was NOT covered under ZLZ. It was covered under another extended warranty program that had already expired.
Also the panel just to the left of the glove box is heavily faded/chalked, but not truly failed. I believe this panel is actually part of the entire 'upper dashboard/instrument panel.' I am assuming that Lexus-Corporate did not approve its replacement. I've seen some evidence that both certain dealerships and Lexus-Corporate tried to avoid the expensive dashboard swap when they could get away with it. To be honest, I wouldn't have wanted to bear the risk of 'things gone wrong' with tearing out the entire front of the interior to swap a dashboard, at least not for just bit of fading/chalking on that side panel.
Note these parts are fabricated specifically to-order for each ZLZ claim (likely in some free-standing service shop area); the parts do NOT come out of standing inventory. So they often take some time to 'appear.' Judging from other ZLZ posters that time can vary a great deal – and in some cases takes a very long time to fulfillment.
I would call from time to time to check on the progress of parts delivery. Each time I was told that three of the seven parts had already arrived. I paid a physical visit to my service advisor on 2022-01-07 (so about nine months down the road) and was told the same thing. So I nudged him to make a polite inquiry of the fabrication source as to when the other four parts might arrive, explaining there might be a "squeaky wheel gets the grease" factor in-play. He asked his regional manager to make the inquiry. The inquiry apparently had the desired effect, moving my fabrication up in the work queue. Around 2022-02-05, I got a call advising all seven parts were now in-hand at the dealership. I scheduled-in the work. I was again comped a free loaner vehicle. It required two full days in-shop to do the work. There were zero charges, just drive-away. The work looks perfect.
Just as an aside, I discovered from reading closely the related POL-18 document, and from a confirming discussion with my service advisor, that Lexus-Corporate does not allow proper labor-hours to the dealership for this work; the dealership basically has to 'eat it.' According to POL-18 (the internal document regarding ZLZ), as well as my paperwork, it allowed only 2.7 labor-hours for the installation of ALL seven parts … and that at whatever discounted labor rate that Lexus corporate force-feeds on the dealerships for doing warranty work. Plus the service advisor isn't going to get any commission off the work either, given there was no cash-in from me on the ticket he wrote and worked. Considering all that, I was quite fortunate to receive the quality of work & service that I did, for which I am quite grateful.
My vehicle even got a complete in&out, right down to nixing the brake dust in the spokes of the rims. Sweet.
