Sticky/cracked interior panel customer support program notification - ZLZ
Jeng, did you do any special cleaning of the panels before application? Or does the fix take care of all of the dull/gloss/white look and gets the colors all uniform again without cleaning and "neutralizing" the colors?
I cleaned my panels, and they looked great. The car sat in the garage for two weeks, never saw the sun, and when I came back from vacation, the panels turned very dull. When I ran my hand over them, I must have removed some chemical or something and they had a semi gloss NORMAL sheen to them again.
I would like to know how to treat them, as my Sticky Dash Fix in in transit and should be here pretty soon!
Thanks in Advance

Hello Folks!
I bought my 07 LS460 last month, to discover that the apparently dirty interior was in fact the degrading panels, they are not sticky to touch, just a little faded. The dash is in good shape at least, So I was thinking, is it possible to cover those panels with leather matching the car's colour? mine is beige. Has anyone tried those? I'm thinking a good shop could probably apply some good quality leather on top of it and it would be even better looking and feel than the original was when it was new.
Thoughts?

i had a 2007. I referenced this in my post above. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...or-panels.html
The door panels can be completely disassembled and recovered if you want to do leather or some other fabric. Comes down to time and money.
if you are the DIY type, find a video on YouTube to show you how - you will see what I mean.

Rapha,
I don't have any pictures.
Go to YouTube and search for ls460 door panel removal.
Go to eBay and search for ls460 door panel. Plenty of pictures. You can see how the panels are constructed. You can buy a cheap door panel and disassemble if it is worth it to you.

I fixed & cleaned the dirty and sticky door panels last week. I cleaned the dirty and sticky door panels with 91% alcohol (Walmart) then uesd the #303 interior protectant which seals the vinyl and made the handle non-stick and even a little slippery. I am very happy that the alcohol cleaned the oily door handles that I was not able to clean with many other detergents. This method also works on sticky heat gun or anything that has rubber coating that become sticky over time. Here is the video that I learned the above from:

Too bad about the LS 460 2011 year. i was frustrated after 5 year of dealing with /Sticky Damn Dash. I was off by a month on the ZLZ recall
and went back and complained bitterly for a year. then 3 yrs of assorted products and do-overs till dizzy. so finally traded in car.
I got $6000 on new Genesis model GV70 2024 model
. for LS460 2011 trade in 2024 i has 110,000 mi. VG condition BUT FOR sticky dash. this car should have fetched $11,000 or better. so Lexus failure cost
me $5000 . no more Lexus for me, for ever. Did I mention I live in Florida? double trouble X triple here in heat. Now after 15 years in the club, I leave forum and Lexus love affair
Greetings Lexus Owners,
I do not own a Lexus but a car dealer I know recently bought a 2008 LS 460 at auction, with about 87,000 miles and I am obsessed with it. I've already decided not to buy it a few times due to some of the issues mentioned in this forum. e.g. - I don't want to deal with an air suspension, but then I was told it is not air suspension on this car. Then I learned about the sticky dash issues and that put me off. The Levinson amplifier is an issue now but that is in the process of being replaced.
The car is just phenomenal (color is red). The interior seems perfect. Driving it on the highway I was surprised to hear some wind noise from what seems like the driver-side mirror. I see there are some threads here about addressing that but it is not bad. The radio was off anyway and I know one way to deal with noises I don't like is to turn up the music volume.
But WOW what a car. I am not a luxury car kind of person and in about 40 years of driving I've been happy with hoopties and would rather spend my money on real estate..... but dang.....this LS 460 is owning my thoughts all day, every day and I can get it for a song.
The LS seems to have spent most of its life in Florida with a few services in the Northeast and I think it was registered in New Hampshire or Maine (I already threw out the Carfax when I decided not to get it the first time....or maybe it was the 2nd time I decided not to get it). The CarFax showed regular maintenance and lower control arm replacement at about 75K miles. The report also showed rocker arm and spring replacements.
No mention of dashboard/door work being performed on the car. One huge problem for me is the potential for dashboard issues but like I said, the whole interior is near perfect as it is right now.
Anyway, if anybody has any advice I welcome it, but really I just wanted to express how impressed I am by this vehicle. Great condition, a dream to drive, gobs of power and really just about any "market" price for this car is low enough for me to seriously consider it and easily accept some relatively expensive work if needed. The dark red color is also my color, similar to the Merlot Mica of my '95 Miata maybe just a little lighter. I do hesitate, however, when I think the dash and doors might melt (but like I said, they look and feel perfect as they are).
I am in Massachusetts FWIW. Oh yeah.... a local Subaru dealer showed a 2021 LS 500 online, but when I bought a Crosstrek yesterday they told me the Lexus is not there. It has crazy low miles....like well under 5,000 miles according to their online offering. (Stateline Subaru FYI) I might have considered that one but they said they didn't have it and it is white, which is a tough sell for me. Still....I was hoping to drive it. Nothing wrong with white and I know newer is better.
Thanks for your time!

I called Lexus Regional office (800 331 4331 or (469) 292 4000) They sent me a letter covering all expenses back in 2021. The program is called (ZLZ). I made an appointment with the dealer and got everything replaced at no charge.
I also want to get a free replacement. Do I have to get permission from the regional center first and then make an appointment with the dealer, right?
