Default Question on Keyless Entry

Hello. I am a returning forum member after being without an LS for 5 years. I have a 2014. When I come up to open the door using keyless entry (door is locked) the vehicle will chime/beep 5 times ..I can't find that in the manual. Does anyone know what this thing is trying to tell me? It happens every time I go to open the locked door. Thanks!

Just a guess could be a low battery in the remote. If you hold the remote close almost touching the handle it should unlock when you grab the handle.

What method are you using to lock your car? Are you using the button on the outside door handle? Or, are you locking the car by pressing the LOCK button on the wireless remote key?

I am locking it with the remote. Then opening it my grabbing the door handle.

To be clear, the door does unlock when I grab the handle. It just also beeps 5 times .

Is one of your spare wireless keys inside the car when you lock it?

Hmmm.... I am pretty sure there are no keys in there. All 3 are accounted for. Perhaps there was a fourth. I will dig around. As far as a credit key, I don't have one as far as I know. It is going in for service on Saturday. I will ask the dealer about this too.

It's pretty easy to check for another key. With only one key on your person (other keys should be separated from the car by more than 30 feet), see it you can lock the doors by pressing the button on the driver's door handle - you should hear just 1 beep from the sounder.

Dealer says it is caused by a malfunctioning lock mechanism on passenger rear door. Throws an error message when unlocking.

There are other threads with similiar issues that had lock actuator issues that caused the same problem.

Yep, sounds like a bad door lock actuator to me.
