I would stick with the factory filters. K & N lets too much dirt enter your engine. Also, the oil on the filter can ruin your mass air flow sensor.

I wouldnt want to make my LS louder. I love the silence with the distant growl of the V8 when I get on it. I agree, stick with the oem stuff

Yes, I agree with sticking with OEM air filters, but I wouldn't hesitate to use their oil filter. I use a K&N air filter on my Harley, but I wouldn't use one on my LS.

i got two K&N's in my LS..no issues whatsoever. Proper maintenance of the filter which inlcudes proper cleaning and re-oiling should not cause any issues. All my cars had K&N's and never once did i have any issues. My LS is NOT louder with these and I did it for add'l mpg. Its hard to calculate, but on road trips, I used to average about 28mpg..now I average 30-32 on the same trip, same speed, same hvac settings..only difference, I added K&Ns. a little mileage here and there does add up. Based on my past experience, i feel comfortable having these in my car

I dont think you hurt anything with K&N filters, they are just expensive and I dont personally feel that you ever get as good as OEM because you dont clean them.. just toss and replace. The K&Ns that I have tried never cleaned up like they were new and I always felt they were more problem then they were worth, but its a personal preference, some people swear by them.

I used a K&N filter in my Expedition years ago. Everything was great until it came time to cleaning and re-oiling. I will take the blame but I over oiled the filter which caused the MAF sensor to get fouled up. Needless to say, an expensive mistake to fix. I will not use K&N again and just stick with OEM filters.

Maybe on the Lexus it could be different. On my civic k have used k&n for 148000 miles with no problems. I think it is a myth.

Thinking about having a poll.

Don't bother. OEM or K&N, it ain't a nickel's worth of difference. Do what you want.
