Default air filter

what is the original air filter in our F? it's dry or oil? what is a difference between dry ot oil air filter?

OEM air filter is dry.

Apart from the obvious, the oiled one requires more maintenance = reoiling after the filter is washed to clean it. If done wrong aka over oiling the filter, you could cause the MAF to get dirty with oil and affect drivability and it's ability to meter air to engine correctly.

According to aFe the oiled filter offers maximum flow which would mean there is a slight edge in power for the oil vs. the dry version.

I use the aFe oiled drop in on the IS F. I also have K &N drop in filters in 2 other cars and those are oiled. I've cleaned and oiled K & N in the past and never had an issue with over oiling. A lot of people do, but I think it's because the don't follow the instructions and go crazy putting oil on the filter.

Because of the potential for error, OEM's generally use dry filters, which is what the IS F has as stated above.
