LS460 Wind Noise Fix (merged threads)
After the fix it was 75% better. 3-4 months later after the fix it's back to the way it was. Now from stuffing the window gaskets with foam my window squeals while rolling up. Just had the 15k done and the dealers answer was spray silicone on the rubber gasket to stop it..
If you need to take the car in again for other than wind noise if no tsb update is released soon, and want to also ask they take another look at it for that: ask them not to use silicone spray but to try resetting all the gaskets with the addition of strips of that grey colored AC foam cut to fit channel of window where gasket sits inside, the kind of foam used on window unit AC. Your description of the noise rang a bell with me when I was describing my own with 350... quote below... My dad reset my gaskets mentioned with me offering assist
. I also see where the idea of design flaw comes from for some people: Dealers say it to owners, that's what dealer told me, nothing short of a redesign would fix it and also the quiet cabin story which people should NOT fall for as it is total BS.
Lower speeds approaching 40 to 45 there is wind noise worsening the faster you go.
At 65mph to 70 is when the worst of it would be present but resetting all window gaskets minimized mine, now only once in while there is that high pressure nozzle volume where before at 65mph to 70 it was constant and so bad you'd do anything to cease it, like rolling windows down which never worked and slowing down the car.

I've read this "thread that will not die" continuously now, and I have to share my own experience.
I have an 07 SWB fully loaded that I purchased last July and I'm here to tell you that the car is absolutely fricken' QUIET! The car doesn't have road noise, it doesn't have the dreaded wind noise, it doesn't have engine noise, it doesn't have squeaks or rattles (at least not after I had the dash fix). The car is truly the quietest car I've ever had the luxury of riding in.
I have a business partner that has an 06 LS 430 fully loaded and I recently was asked to drive the car for him back to our offices and I can tell you with absolute certainty that the car is nowhere near as quiet as my 460. Not even close!! His car has very low mileage (17k) and he has taken great care of the car. Compared to my LS...it's a rattle trap and its styling on the interior felt CHEAP.
I've read posts by other members here who try to pass off the previous generation of LS's as a quieter automobile. Sorry to tell you...they are not. And, it's not even close. If you like the 430, then congrats. It's a wonderful automobile and you should enjoy the car. But, don't try to convince me that Lexus didn't make HUGE strides with the 460 over the previous generation.
If you're driving your 430 and you fail to hear wind noise like you claim you hear in the 460, it's because it's being drowned out by higher levels of engine noise and road noise in the cabin. Your ears just can't distinguish the "whooshing" sound over the other noise seeping into the cabin. Trust me, I know. I was shocked...SHOCKED at how much noisier my friend's 430 was.
There may be some 460 owners on here who have a real wind noise problem. But, I promise you, for the vast majority that post on this board, their 460 is definitely much quieter than the previous generation of LS's.
The 430 is definitely a nice ride, but I was soooo glad I waited for the 460 to purchase after spending 20 minutes in the 430.

look at the corner of the windows/glass where the lexus imprint is. it should say laminated or something like that (forgot). that means they are laminated. the normal glasses (take a look at a swb) and it should say tampered

I was told the dealer and the factory advisor have totally tapped all the door glass seals so it would be impossible for air to get in and they still heard the wind noise at 40mph.
They are focusing on the seem between the fender and the hood. Somehow they think it's starting from there and works it's way up the windshield.

Now the bad news... took a long drive from West Los Angeles to Newport Beach today with some friends and had the stereo off so that we could have a good conversation. This is when I started noticing the wooshing sound of wind near the area of the front window next to the side mirror. This was apparent on both the driver and passenger side of the car and can be best described as the sound of wind entering the cabin because the window doesn't seem to be closed completely. I checked the windows and they were indeed completely closed. I'll be calling South Bay Lexus tomorrow to make an appointment for the TSIB fix for wind noise.
This is on a 07 LS460L with laminate (lamisafe) glass. I'll let everyone know how it goes.
