Nice to read the posts and the limited action that appears to be starting to take place. I too have the wind noise and am watching the posts for when I bring in my car next month for it's oil change. Thanks again!

Thanks.
There was one (and only one) instance when after 15 long minutes of stop-and-go traffic the car felt like it was running in just 2 cylinders, and I knew that was some transmission hickup. It felt like the car was in ECT Snow mode, but it wasn't. No big deal, because after a few miles of normal rolling traffic everything went back to normal. Also, the hickup from a dead stop was starting to get to my nerves, so I pointed that out at the dealer and they upgraded the software.

It will take 2 full tanks of gas for me to notice any difference, but I can tell it shifts on little higher rpms which is good, it feels even smoother.

It's important to note that on the service invoice it was written that "car has a system to disingage transmission torque converter when stopped for an extended period of time. System is operating within range". Even so, the software upgrade was done, and it's TSIB #TC004-07. This means "updated files for ECT ECU".

One thing I can tell: after the upgrade, the screen turns to the map faster right after I press the "I agree" button. It used to be a somewhat slow transition, now it's instant.

I'll post updates on the transmission after I burn two tanks of gas.

What kind of an estimate did the dealer give you to make the wind noise repair? My dealer said the Field Engineer told him to allow 3 days for the fix; I questioned what all the fix involved because that seemed long to replace the glass and add some insulation and the dealer agreed but wasn't sure because he said the TSB is still in draft form and he hadn't yet seen it.

My dealer told me to bring the car in early in the morning and I could pick it up that afternoon. He thought it would only take a couple of hours. BTW, I live 110 miles from the dealer.

Interesting; I didn't have a warm and fuzzy about leaving my new 460 with only 2300 miles on it at the dealership for 3 days without them being able to justify 3 days worth of work. One day seemed reasonable but 3? Right now I'm waiting on the final TSB so I can see what the fix will involve and what the estimate to repair will be. I'm sure I'm not alone in waiting to hear from those of you that will have the repair to find out what it involved and if it mitigated the wind noise.

Luxo, did the software update eliminate the hiccup from dead stop?

Thanks

Default Wind noise date

Anybody know the effective date when the fix was updated at the factory?

Day

If there indeed is a fix in place that will resolve this issue completely, I would think the factory in Japan should know how to build those parts of the car by now, so the 08 models should be expected not to have this issue ...

Here's hoping ... my 2008 460L is due in late September/early August.

I can't tell yet, as I have to go through 2 tanks of fuel so the car "learns" all the curves. What I can tell is that it shifts on a slightly higher rpm more into the 'sweet spot' and I like that. The hickup is still there but it's less agressive. Now please note - I have to wait until 2 full tanks are consumed, so don't take this as my final report

I just received a call from my dealer. They will replace the windows on July
24th. The tech is going to replace the glass when the Lexus field service rep will be ther to show him what needs to be done.

I hope this is the end to my wind noise... I will let everyone know if this takes care of the problem... I hope to have the transmission update done at the same time...

Craig
