Default My wind noise is now gone!

I just picked up my LS460 this afternoon. They replaced both front windows along with the seals and clips mentioned in this thread, took it to the tint shop I originally used and the wind noise is virtually gone. They started on it Monday Morning and presented it to me this afternoon, Wedsnesday. I am happy to say the least. Didn't seem to damage the doors at all. I can't tell where they took doors off at all and I have tried.

Just got my car back from Prestige Lexus in Ramsey NJ, for the wind noise fix and a few other issues.

I would say the countermeasures helped, but the problem is not eliminated. In my case, I think there is lesser road noise (I presume the thicker laminated glass helps), but I still hear some wind noise at the top of the left and right front windows once I hit around 60 mph.

Nonetheless, I am extremely pleased with the service I am getting from Prestige - the senior tech assigned to me has been nothing short of exemplary; he responds promptly to calls and emails, spends a great deal of time explaining issues, is very proactive, and does work to perfection. The car was prepped and returned better than when I picked it up (other than a slightly grimey rag being used to clean the inside windows and leaving streaks and have when the sunlight hit - boos, hiss!)

My sales rep was excellent as well, and in the entire dealerships is so on the ball I cannot recommend them highly enough.

The other things I have fixed were replacement of a scratched trim around the nav sceen (the outer grey trim - a monumental task apparently, involving the migration of nav screen, radio, buttons, and circuit boards to the new trim housing); the transmission hesitation fix, updated CDDP database, and some preference programming.

My seat bottoming out issue will be dealt with on another visit - Lexus apparently does not yet have an official fix for this, but they are telling my dealer to have the rear seat taken to a professional upholster and have additional padding added (a process that must be done carefully to route around the air mechanism and flow tubes).

The sloppy suspension/hard bang issues is something we will investigate more together. It's not chronic, but I think it occurs enough to warrant another look.

After further driving last night and this morning, I'll say the countermeasures helped very little. The wind noise is still prevalent coming from the tops of the left and right windows. Road noise may be mildly diminished, but that just might be me trying to be nice about it.

What's becoming bothersom also are the Bridgestone tires on the car - they aren't the best handling and they are quite noisy in their own right...

So I've asked my dealership to explore the wind noise issue further with Lexus. A few here have posted that Lexus may be working on additional countermeasures, and I hope this is the case.

That's strange, my wind noise is gone. All I hear is normal turbulence. I have the Dunlop tires on my car, so I'm glad I don't have the bridgestone's. One less problem...

Let us know what your dealer says...

Good luck!

From your prior post, I think you indicated that you have the laminated glass installed in your front windows. Just for confirmation...do you have the laminated glass installed in your front windows already? And you still have the wind noise issue?

ES 350, they did install the laminated glass in both of my front windows. The head tech from my dealer just called, I told him the wind noise is gone and all I have left is normal turbulence at high speeds. Before the repair, I had wind noise that sounded like it was coming from the top of the window on the drivers side front window. I never heard the noise from the passenger side glass. Are you taking your car in for the retro fit? I think it was a big improvment.

I'm thinking about going in for the wind noise fix (laminated windows and insulation), the transmission re-programming, and some fixes on rattles.

OK, I had the transmission update done as well. No more delay when leaving from a stop. I don't have any rattles...

it's good to hear that we have positive results on the fix! that's awesome and thanks craig for your continuous updates. definitely sounds like lexus is super serious about this to make sure the LS is taken care off.

I guess they aren't rattles...it sounds more like popping or creaking of the center console (around the nav and the wood trim near the shifter) when I turn sharply around corners or pull into driveways.

Lexus did release a tsb for the wind nosie this week, it involves replaceing windows, adding some kind of insulation on the front windshield and adding extra foam to the doors. I dont have the tsb number <left it at work>. I am not sure on the availability of the parts. like everything that first comes out they are back ordered since everyone is trying to do the same fix. nv009 something, I will have to try not to forget it.

Default TSIB #at work

Hey, ShawnJohn....could you please remember to bring home the wind noise TSIB number home from work, and post it here?

Many of us are waiting to have the work done, but need the actual TSIB so the dealers will do it.

Thanks.

I just got my car back re: glove box fix and center console rattles and creaks. I also had the headliner removed and they found 2 rattles up there where mounting brackets were touching the sunroof. I am also scheduled to get the wind noise fix in about 10 days. They need to send somebody for Lexus to do that (some sort of engineering technician). I don't know if the problems are gone but I have taken this up with Lexus on the national level and they seem to want to please. Also my dealer is excellent. I'm spending more time in loaners at the moment but hopefully this will all work out. I know some think we are picky but I have had many Lexus and only complained about 2. My first GS430 and this. I like this car a lot and hope it will all work out. If not, I'm on to another model but I'll probably stay with Lexus.

Where exactly did your rattles come from your center console? Was it from your nav screen area or more towards the gear shift area? Also, what did they do to stop the rattles in your center console?

I think my car has the same rattles/creaks.

thanks!
