Some cars were having problems with the Homelink taking the codes. They wouldn't accept the codes, so you couldn't program it to open your garage doors or gate. I had problems with mine taking the code. When I did it with the engine running, it took the codes. There is a TSIB out for this problem. Since I was able to program mine, I didn't ask about it...
"Has anyone had a Gracenotes update yet and is this really the way the process is going to work?"
I requested the gracenotes update several weeks ago while in for service and was told that my car has the latest version of gracenotes and no later update is available. Since I purchased on 11-1-06 that means that there has been no gracenote updates at all. What you were told is consistent with I was told. Consequently there is real question in my mind when or if there will actually be any updates.
As craig said - the homelink issue was that it was very difficult to get the car to accept the codes. It took me hours to get it to take. The TSB fixed it so that it took on the first try.

I thought I saw somewhere else on this forum that a dealer had told someone there were later versions - but it wasnt clear that anyone had actually gotten a new version installed.....I'm going to continue to research it and ask my dealer to get the latest.

it took me a good 1/2 hour for my car to take the codes. I thought it was me and as i am a computer science engineer, the last thing i wanted to do was admit defeat.
it never ocurred to me that it was a bug. i thought it was my lack of understanding...silly me.
My car was delivered in April and came with CDDB (Gracenote) version 1129.
On Monday the dealer installed version 1381.
Several newer CDs I have that were not recognized are still no rcognized.
(I have not tried reloading them, but I thought the upgrade would update the info if it contained it)

My dealer called today to inform me that my LS's wind noise repair will be done sometime around the 22nd of August. The TSIB number in Canada is the same as the US, and he was very thankful that I provided this to him. It armed him with the ammunition he needed when dealing with Lexus Canada. I also told him that an experienced Lexus tech must be present for this fix. A few other minor items will also be fixed at that time. Many thanks to the lads who pursued this relentlessly. I would not be remiss to suggest that Club Lexus was singularly pivotal in bringing this matter to a satisfactory conclusion. This thread has been on fire for quite a while now, and the number of hits clearly demonstrates that many (members & lurkers) have benefitted either with the car they own, or assisted with their purchase decision.
Good to hear that they are prepared to do the fix for you. So is it Dale (IIRC) you're dealing with regarding this ? Good luck for the fix & keep us updated on the progress.
I've been dealing with Sam, Sean and Dale. However, Dale called today as I've been conversing via email with him, and he took the bull by the horns when I supplied him with info they didn't have yet.
An update on my adventure with Lexus. This my ninth Lexus so I have been through many annoying issues with these cars over the years. The funny thing is they are supremely reliable and have generally been a joy to drive. I must say that this noise issue is the most annoying and should alter my next purchase
I had a meeting with the Lexus field rep at my dealership. Wow. Either dumb as a rock or putting it on for my sake. We drove around and of course he thought the road noise was normal. I pointed out the hollow armrest in the front compared to the rear and of course he had nothing to say. I made sure a report was filed to Japan and would encourage anyone else with these problems to report them because I too think something more should be done
With respect to doing more I am trying to understand this issue. I still think filling in the hollow arm rest helped a little. The other thing is that I noticed as an open window is moving upward it actually seems to create a seal with rubber liners on either side of the window within the door. This seal gets tighter as the window rises. I am beginning to wonder if maybe those of us that had the fix and still have road noise have a situation where the fix was not adequate and the window is not rising completely. I have noticed that the more I raise and lower the window the noise seems to be less at times. I will call the dealership to get some feedback aftere the visit with the rep and see if there is a next level to talk to.
The driving experience is getting better but for those of us that are veteran LS owners I think you would have to admit this is the most noisy one yet. My local tech indicated the same, part of which is due to some new aspects of the engine, something about "chains"????
Anyway, Good luck to all. I still think we have not heard the end of this one.

I don't know what your tech is talking about. If anything, the all new LS-460 engine should be quieter, it has the intake valves controlled by electric step motors - perhaps a first in the industry - that ditch the need of using timing chains and allows use of 0W30 oil due to much more precise valve timing at cold starts.
Another tech advance is the fuel injection that is now independent in each cylinder, and this yes causes a little ticking noise at idle. It has nothing to do with chains. Send your tech back to Japan!!
I also told him that an experienced Lexus tech must be present for this fix.
According to my service rep., the factory techs are no longer required to do the installation as the technical specs. have been written:
"I have been assured by our diagnostic specialist, that at this point, there is no reason to schedule a factory rep for this repair. I have had my D.S. contact the factory with your question, and they stated that if for whatever reason our technitions cannot install this kit, and the D.S. has a problem installing the kit, then the factory will be happy to assist us. As stated before, in the other instances the factory reps most likely were needed, because the technical instructions were probably not yet available to the dealerships. "
I was schedule to have the fix done on Monday, but am having second thoughts since it will be installed by a local "technition".
I'm still driving my LS430 with 11,000 miles on it and have been considering the LS460 as a replacement. I have had 2 test drives in the new car and don't see a lot of difference between them regarding the ride and driveability. I have also been following all of these threads regarding wind noise and the other problems cropping up in the new models. I sure hope they get them fixed before they release the '08 model. Sorry to say, the Cadillac CTX is looking better all the time. I know...that's heresy. But who wants to put up with wind noise in a "luxury" car and the denial of Lexus in addressing the problem?
