My unit gets here Wednesday and I'll be installing it this Friday. Hopefully I can try to help figure out how to get everything sorted. It looks like it worth the money so far though.

I think I maybe confused. I read vredniykot say no cutting/splicing of wires were necessary and almeshtaq show that some was necessary. Are there two ways to install this unit? Or is the difference of the year of the car?

 

The sales rep I have been speaking with says those two wires do not really have a purpose now, they are learning. Did anyone use an adapter to still use OEM GPS antenna on roof of car?

 

Does this have the playstore? Could you just download Google maps and download whatever map you use on it? It seems that mirroring the phone would be a pain to use.

Yes, she confirmed that mystery plug #2 is not needed for the 2006 model

I would like to know what wires in the stock harness are for the radio antenna so i could tap into those instead of running a whole new antenna wire

 

yes, it does have a Google playstore, i was able to connect to my home wi-fi and download/update a few things
the manufacturer advertised it as 3G capable but i did not see any slot for a SIM card on it...
the only way i see it as being able to connect to the internet is through tethering through your phone's USB or wi-fi hotspot. i personally didn't test neither of these functions as my phone provider apparently does not have neither of these options... (metro PCS, boo)

 

not sure, manufacturer advertised it as 2004-2006 models only, i think it won't work as pre-2004 have different plugs on climate control, they have 4 plugs as in pic below



and post-2004 have 3 plugs and the 2 wider plugs are the ones that are used by the adapter harness and as far as i see these are different

 

on another hand, it seems like the mystery plugs #1 and #2 may fit the pre-2004 model's harness...
if you're not too far from me you can swing by and we can open it up and see if it works, I'm in Bonney Lake

 

If the other guy doesn't want it, I'll take it. I can't get up to Bonney Lake, so it will have to be shipped. If it doesn't work for my car, I'll just offer it up on here.

I think I’m going to keep my original unit,it looks good but it really doesn’t impress me,they need to work harder on those units to make them more unique to each car

 

I have a big problem now. I left the unit unplugged and out of the car overnight. plugged it in in the morning and now the touchscreen doesnt work right. when I touch the screen on the right side it acts like I touched the screen on the left side, if I touch on the left it opens things on the right side. the power, home, back and volume buttons are not working either. bluetooth doesnt work also.

Contacted the rep about returning it...

As time goes by, however little, I think that other than the touchscreen "cool" factor there aren't that many benefits to this unit over the stock equipment...

 

Did you try to recalibrate the screen?
