I recently changed my cabin a/c filter and now when I start the car the "replace a/c filter" warning light shows. What is the correct way to cancel this warning I read in another forum that I should put igniotion in the "on" position and press "OFF". Being stupid I don't know which "OFF" is meant....help
So I guess this is a "dummy warning" like the maintenance and oil? How often does this light come on? I've had the vehicle for about 14K now and it's never come on before, so would imagine 15K or so?
Does this mean that changing the filter itself does nothing to reset the light?

I think its based on time if im not mistaken. Basically a timer with no relation to the filter itself.
Above is my thread (WITH PICS) when I changed mine last year in 2009. I got the warning/notice..and the mileage was around 45k? I have no idea when the prior owner changed the filter, or reset the warning...but based on my inspection, my filter was at least 1 year/12k miles old...at least! (it was quite durrrty) Car is 2005 model year.
If the warning isn't based on time or mileage, could it be based on an airflow sensor, or reduced airflow?
I DID have a crapload of stuff from the prior owner..and you can see how pissed off I was when I uncovered this organic compost pile on wheels, because I had the vehicle PRE-INSPECTED at Lexus of Chester Springs, PA. They really pissed me off----telling me I needed an oil change, but never mentioned anything about this obviously dirty *** filter.

HI,
I try way to replace my seat air filters.Because each front seat of my LS430 UL 2001 have a small drawer underneath so can't locate the filter.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
The warnings are typically based on the OEM recommended service schedule. You can set whatever schedule you want in the nav screen. You can choose both the mileage and date when you want an warning to appear for all maintenance items.
My A/C Filter light came on. Watched the guy replace it in the glove box. Inspected the old one and indeed, it had accumulated a lot of debris. Next time I will pull out the filter and run over the dirty side with a vacuum cleaner attachment. The clean side was in perfect shape. The circulation system is great. The other day I noticed for the first time that when riding behind a car that was blowing smoke, none of the foul air entered the cabin.

I think that using a compressor or vacuum to clean on this particular filter might not work since it's a carbon filter and takes the particles into it to a degree. I don't think it's the same as a regular air filter which can be decently cleaned via air brush method. I tried it once to buy some time while out of town and the light remained on. Asked a friend who told me carbon filters don't shed particles the way I envisioned and remain dirty/clogged/full.

Now that you know how to replace it, you REALLY would vaccuum the old filter if/when you get the warning light on? Isn't that beyond frugal?
It's only 20-something-bucks! As others said, it's the charcoal that filters/absorbs the odors that are on the outside trying to come in!
I'll sell you my old oil filters for next to nothing, if you want to wash them out and reuse them? LOL! jk
