Hateroo - I think if you just remove the OEM sub I think it will make everything sound much better. The empty opening will allow more sound from the trunk to enter the cabin and the OEM sub isn't very responsive anyways.

Vincent - any progress?

I'm still waiting on the harness and the backup camera I ordered to arrive. Basically just waiting for all my parts to arrive so I can send the car to the shop and get it done. I would do it myself, but i have no idea how

I got a 91 with the premium sound.Trying to install a pioneer 4200dvd. And every thing is wired correctly as far harnesses are concerned. We hooked it up to my tundra and everything works fine. We put it back in the ls and we are not getting an power. Im using the metra 70-1761...not using the blue plug so maybe thats my problem. The stock head unit works with out the blue plug just fine..tried another in dash i have and it does not work either. But works in the tundra. So if anyone could point me in the direction of where something is going wrong. Something just isnt getting power. Maybe im using the wrong harness for premium sound? I have no clue. Probably the most confused ive been in a while.

Ive got a damn good feeling i need this harness as well http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...a-70-8112.html

the LS uses very odd wiring compared to most 87+ toyotas due to the amp setup. either hardwire everything or buy a beatsonic adapter harness

In that case does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 91 with Premium Sound? I can't seem to find one.

Talking 1st GEN in-dash

Im curious what people have done with the their stereos on their 1st gen LS models. I have a DVD unit in mine right now and i got it from lightinthebox.com. It looks nice, but has a cheap interface. It was only 213.00 so natually it broke, go figure. Does anyone else have any ideas? im curious what you other 1st Gen's have done. Pix would be nice too

I'm looking at getting a Kenwood DNX6960 head unit to replace the Nak I currently have in my 97 LS400. Does anyone have one installed? Like it?

Does anyone know why certain speaker cut out and then back on Periodically. It's almost like the stock system gets confused with audio encoded as stereo. It's weird it different doors lose sound then come right back on.... Is it speakers, old wiring or the headunit...which is still stock...

sounds like some of the wiring is coming loose, probably at the connectors on the speaker them self. but there could be multiple different reasons for this. could be the head unit also.
