And 98-00 there was also simple HVAC with buttons like in this picture? Or only touchscreen?
That looks like a 95-97 HVAC unit. The 98-00 models add the clock display at the top of the HVAC unit. Also, (shameless self plug) assuming you don't already have one, I do have a 95-97 HVAC unit out of a Toyota Celsior. Same part, but only difference is it reads in Celsius, and the temperature adjustment buttons' positions are switched (i.e. left side is now "passenger temp").
I know I've seen the answer somewhere in here or another thread before, but what is the easiest spot behind the head unit to tap a 12v constant wire into? I'm bypassing my amp installing my new head unit using wiring diagrams and such. Already grounded the head unit, so that's all set too. Those are the easy parts for me, but I'm not sure what to do about the accessory wire and the constant 12v wire on my head unit's harness. Btw, I've got a 1998.
I've been reading and searching this a ton but am still confused as I'm not an audio expert by any means. Can someone with experience please confirm that buying the Beat-Sonic SLA-22AD with an aftermarket headunit (planning on double din Pioneer) will be plug and play retaining my stock amp and sub?
My stock amp and speakers work great but I'm not a fan of the OEM head unit and $300 for a beatsonic harness is frankly ridiculous for what appears to be a line level converter.
The beatsonic harness makes installation plug and plug and that box is just a line level converter. The connectors to make your own plug and play harness is nearly impossible to find.
I don't think the metra 70-8112 will work with a 98-00. The Metra 70-1761 toyota harness works, but it interfaces with the connectors at the amp (under the seat), not the connectors behind your dash. If you don't mind running a few wires and doing some soldering, you could just save the money and use the 70-1761 connectors.
I install a Joying head unit a few weeks ago. I did go with the beatsonic sla-22 adapter, but in hindsight I really should have invested the money in a 4 channel amp to replace the oem one (looking at an alpine ktp-445u). After running the 4 gauge power, subwoofer rca and backup camera lines; a few additional wires to where the oem amp sat would have been a minimal effort.
I have modified my speaker boxes to fit 6.5" Focal PS165F Components and Coaxials, and the midbass is lacking. I have heard on the forums that some were able to get decent midbass using the OEM speaker boxes but my midbass with these Focals in the boxes is on par with my old nakamichi's. (I know these Focals can hit hard since my friend recently installed them in his Honda Civic)
Also, the midbass for the rears is much worse than the fronts, I think it may have to do with the shape and dimension with the rear speaker boxes vs the fronts? I have also since put silicone putty around the perimeter of the speakers so there is an airtight seal, it made a small difference but I don't think that was my biggest issue. Has anyone else used the speaker boxes with satisfactory results? Would appreciate some input, especially on the rears!
Anyone know the pinouts of the 98-00 pioneer factory radio plugs or where I could look for a diagram? I am not retaining the factory amplifier. I just need 3 wires. dimmer, power, and accessory. I have searched and found diagrams for nak but not pioneer.

I have the service manual but not the wiring diagram manual. I ordered a used paperback electrical diagram for 1998 on ebay. When I get it I will post a picture of the page incase others are looking as well.
Wow, I completely forgot I downloaded the wiring diagrams a few years ago, enjoy. I think these are only compatible for the 1998 model year, not sure if '99 and '00 are different.
Hey, So I have a LS400 1992 with the pioneer radio. I love how it looks and dont want a new screen to ruin the aesthetic. But I cant find anywhere anyone who has done the bluetooth mod that connects to the CD changer. all of them are like 1998 and newer and stuff. I just want to be able to connect my phone and play music. Has anyone done it before? can you help me find the parts I need to buy that fit my car?
