The plastic "under engine protector".....
What do you call the thingy that is under the engine, made of plastic, that is held in place by 12 (I think) bolts and screws? I know its purpose -- to protect against dirt, etc., getting into the engine compartment.
Now, the question. Does anyone know its correct name and the part number? The reason for asking is that mine is nearly rent in twain and I would like to replace it, but not necessarily with a new one; a good one from a junk yard would be perfectly fine. Any suggestions as to where I might find such?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I suggest getting a price quote from Sewell Lexus at http://www.lexus-parts.com/parts_inq.html
The last plastic under engine cover I bought new (for a 90 LS) cost me a little over $100 -- but that was five years ago.
These things get brittle with age so I wouldn't buy a used one unless it was under $25 including shipping.

Engine under cover - part # 51441-50013. It cost me $138 from my dealer (with a discount) back in Dec. 2005. It requires some screws and bolts too. I purchased 5 screws (part # 90159-60507), and 8 bolts (part # 90119-06354) as well as 8 plastic grommets for the above bolts (part #90189-06124). Hope this helps.
Sorry, just noticed you have a 97, mine is a 91.

Mine is gone. It's easier to change oil filter without it. My plastic radiator air dam is gone too, shattered to pieces when I did the timing belt. I'm not replacing that either.

A giant "thank you" to those who took the time to reply to my question about the plastic "under engine protector"! In order to keep my '97 LS 400 as pristine as I can, I think I will order a new one and replace it; it does really keep the engine compartment clean, cleaner than I have ever seen on any car.
I was considering epoxying some popsicle sticks over the crack to join the parts, but that doesn't seem too practical since it is plastic.
