Default Who here dislikes the Lexus Engine Cover!!

ok so I have had my car for about a month now and love it. when i take it out to a party with friends and family they come and check it out tell me how nice it looks. I show them the inside and they think its so luxurious but then when I pop the hood they look confused. they want to see the engine but everything is completely covered. i guess this is how new cars are made these days or something but just wanted your opinions.

O yah and is it ok if I drive with the engine cover off??

Engine covers are purely aesthetic. It just hides the confusing number of tidbits and doodahs within the engine bay.

If you want to take them off, go for it. The noise output, albeit more, is insignificant to most people...

IMO it makes the engine bay a lot more neat and clean

Just hate how fragile the clamps/clips are....

Actually, the engine covers are not only for aesthetics. They help accomplish NVH standards for Lexus. Most of your higher-end cars nowadays have these engine covers for this reason.

It keeps your engine bay cleaner too doesn't it? Easier to clean off the engine covers then having to wash your engine.

Paint them and make it more visually appealing then.

Make it custom and your own and be proud that lexus thought of every aspect and decided to give the engine bay a very clean look

or else take them covers off, nothing bad will happen i believe a lot of members has done this.

If they want to see the engine, just "pop-off" the engine cover to show them.

I don't think there is anything special about our engines just by looking at it, I prefer to have the engine cover on, at least my friends with Hondas and Nissans think it looks nice.

Our engines aren't anything to show off visually anyways. Nothing painted or polished. Just kinda eh. So I leave it on.

our engines our fugly, despite the engine cover having other functions like keeping the noice down, for me its there to make the engine bay look some what pretty. If you dont like it you can paint it, ive seen many car withcool engine cover paint jobs

i hate those clips tho. one fell down the driver's side area right behind the headlight. seems as tho there is a lot of dead/crush space, but i can't find it. oh well.

I like 'em.
Nice clean look when the hood is opened.
I hit them with Protectant 303 and they look great.
