Is your car still under the original 4 year, 50k mile warranty?

I had my 2018 GS350 battery replaced at the dealer recently at the dealer for free under warranty. It died 2 weeks before my original 4 year warranty expired.

No, it is out for several months. Pretty bad luck. But it looks strange to me, I have other cars that the original battery lasts for 6+years, being a lexus flagship, the battery's lifespan is only 4 years?

After dealing with my Maserati for 8+ years and reading all the horror stories associated with a bad battery, I’ve always hooked up a tender to my car. First thing I’ve ever done when I got the LC was to put in tender leads in the trunk.

I am not aware of anything special bout the LC battery aside from the fact that it is an AGM battery placed in the truck. I would expect to pay 200-400 for a replacement. You shud be able to purchase a comparable National Branded unit at this price point. Doesn’t have to come from Toyota.

As a comp my bmw M850 has two, the lithium ion in the engine compartment is ~$2000 and the conventional in the trunk is ~$300. Surprising the LC only has one, but the bmw does have more tech/electronics

In Phoenix, we are lucky to get 3 years out of a battery. The heat kills them. Talking in general though, not sure if the LC battery is different but my IS batteries lasted 2-3 years from Lexus and always got a free one from the dealer under warranty.

I am hoping the battery that went wrong is the more traditional hundreds $ one in the truck.

you're referring to so-called mild hybrid drive trains on a number of high end luxury vehicles.

the LC500h (hybrid) has a battery pack for power and efficiency, but the v8 LC500 does not, as far as i know, have any additional lithium ion battery. the LC500 (only as far as i know) battery is in the trunk.

When I do the jump start, I am connecting to the positive terminal in the fuse box. If the only battery is the one in the trunk, then a natural question is what is the positive terminal in the front hood

Then why so expensive, pure gouging?

Not at all, the M850 does not have a mild hybrid setup up and has both aforementioned batteries. Furthermore some others from BMW and MB’s have had two batteries going back to the mid 2000’s. I also believe some American makes do/did as well also w/o any type of 48v/mild electrical assist

good question, i've no idea why over $1000 on that website.

looking at other sites, a good battery over 600 CCA is $200 or less.

but for sure there's only one battery, in the trunk - from the manual:

maybe a way to jump without having take the coverings (cargo liner / carpet and compartment cover) and anything else out of the trunk.

I can't really speak for other people, but my car sits for weeks at a time and I forget to hook up a tender since it is parked outside. The cars that I don't drive often, the batteries last about 3-4 years without a tender. I got 9 years out of a battery before in my daily driven corolla.

It looks like the LC500h has 3 battery options.

00544-MFH60 - $169.20 MSRP "2.0L, 3.5L, aftermarket. Conventional, aftermarket, 770 cca"

00544-MFH70 - $224.74 MSRP "Conventional, aftermarket, 765 cca"

28800-31450 - $1,781.92 MSRP "Optional. Conventional, lexus, 3.5l"

Looks like the really expensive one is a factory option. I wonder what is different about it.
