Default Battery

Can I hook up a battery tender to my 2018 Lexus LC 500? Do I have to disconnect the battery? Is there under hood access or do I have to go through the trunk?

Moving to the right Forum .... Salim

This is the one I use:
https://smartercharger.com/products/...-multi-us-4-3/

You have to use the supplied alligator clips and the connection is under the front hood. Positive terminal is under the fuse box cover (passenger side) and negative can go anywhere to the grounded body, typically the right strut tower bolt.

The hood won't close with this setup so you have to use a folded up shop towel to keep it propped up enough to not touch the cables.

I don't think the inside cigarette lighter plug will work because it auto shuts off.

I have mine hooked up the same way, but just use the clips on my battery tender. I don't use a shop towel. Lexus should have thought about a better way to keep the battery charged IMO. I've mentioned it to my dealer. My car is in for the winter...

Default Battery tender terminals

Anyone hooked up a battery tender?
Any available terminals under the hood?

There is a positive terminal inside the fuse box used for jump starting. Connect positive terminal of tender there. Connect the negative terminal to any metal ground, like the bolt at the engine bay brace.

Refer to pages 359 & 360 in your owners manual

Very poor design in my opinion, can take a picture if you need.

Thank you all! I thought I had been completely through the manual and looked everywhere in the engine bay. I’ll see if I can locate today..

The positive terminal is a little hard to find. Unclip the fusebox cover on the passenger side near the windshield. Under this you will find a RED flip top, hinged cover for the positive terminal. Fragile... so be careful not to break it. Again, the negative can go anywhere on the grounded chassis.... the right shock strut bolt is easiest. You may or may not need to support the hood to keep it clear of the alligator clips when you lay it closed....

Default Battery-powered dash cam available?

Looking for a dash cam that has it's own built-in operational battery, avoiding the need to have it plugged-in. Are the Go-Pro type cameras the only good alternatives?

You don't have to have it plugged in. On my ISF is was wired to power from the inside mirror. I plan to do the same with my LC.

could you please share some details? Do you mean taking the original back mirror off then replace it with a new mirror with a camera?

^^^^No, dropping the headliner at the windshield and tapping into a hot wire.

Default Battery Charger

Coming from a Porsche, I still have my battery charger. My question is will it possibly work with my LC and if not does a Lexus make a battery charger that plugs into a cigarette lighter? Thank you in advance.
