Did a battery test on my LC the other day when diagnosing the EBP Malfunction issue, came back at 545 CCAs, battery originally was stamped with 680 CCAs.
Went to a local auto parts store (Advanced Auto Parts), got the Diehard Platinum AGM battery (850 CCAs) OTD for ~$280. Took about 15 minutes.
All it took was a 10mm socket and wrench to undo the battery terminals and reinstall with my battery tender quick dis/connects.
I pulled my battery out to swap it and noticed this tube dangling. It took me a while to figure out that it plugs into the side of the battery to vent gases. I'm looking all around the trunk trying to figure out where to plug this thing in
Off topic but similar knowledge issue; have owned the LX600 for about 6mos. Noticed a rectangular button below the SOS that has a car/wifi looking emblem that says "off". Couldn't figure out what it was nor could I locate it easily in the Lexus manual. Finally after about 20 minutes of searching I found a description in the Alarm section. It's for canceling the Intrusion Sensor and Tilt Sensor, for when your leaving people/pets, clothes hanging or the sunroof is left open and you locked the car.
I really could of used this two days ago when I found my battery dead. I managed to break off one corner of the relay/fuse box cover under the hood because I left it on the cowl when I closed the hood. $88 at a Lexus dealership.
I too swear by AGM batteries. A very solid middle ground. They seem to last, retain charge and don’t cause the potential issues of an Li battery. I had nothing but charge retention issues with Li batteries in my Porsches. Constantly had to use a trickle charger. I have no such issues with my AGM batteries. AGM’s are cheaper to begin with too.
Whoever advised using Li-ion battery in a car that is equipped with regular or AGM battery, clearly doesn't know about batteries.
Li-ion needs a different charging system, you cannot use a Li-ion battery with a regular charging system, it will never correctly be (fully) charged, thus it will fail..
