I hope so. I'm very happy with the way my car is running right now. I'm hoping the master tech did the right thing by removing the exhaust and retightening rather than needing to replace the part. But if the car still needs to be recalled for an actual replacement, so be it.

I messaged the dealership about 10 min ago to kindly remind them to send your check (I even name dropped you) and they said you reached out to them earlier and told them you didn't want it. They were in the process of sending it. I don't know what you're trying to prove here to anyone, but I thought you deserved the $200. Not getting it is all on you now.

We're all grateful you've helped some people get the IS500 at MSRP. Go ahead and take a break though, b/c nobody made you do this in the first place.

let’s knock off the personal commentary please. A break from the devils advocate approach also appreciated as well to avoid ongoing conflict.

LOL, why though? I thought this was an open discussion. Do we have to all say exactly the same thing? Is this not a free country? What's wrong with showing some empathy to the guys who are actually having the CEL issue instead of sweeping it under the rug and saying everything's going perfect in the end?

Your story is very encouraging. Your mechanics did a very simple fix, and the CEL light has not come on since. I really feel bad for Jororo. What on earth is going on with his car? Eagerly awaiting the resolution on that one.
And then there was the other poster who wrote that the CEL came on, and then it went away on its own. So it doesn't appear to be something very serious. Don't know if it's a software thing or actual bad piece of instrumentation, or gasket, etc.
But it does seem we'll get a fix soon from Lexus.

Huh? Would this thread exist if it was getting swept under the rug? No.

Not at all asking for everyone to say the same thing, you are just a bit over the top with repetitive negative comments at times (plus making some misogynistic and other inappropriate comments). Tone it down please, if you want to discuss more PM me.

Got my CEL fixed!
Dropped my car off Monday in the morning and was given a loaner NX300. No further updates.
Technician tested for leaky exhaust/bad gaskets on Tuesday.
Wednesday morning gasket replaced, technician took the car out for a 14 mile road test (pretty far), no more CEL.
Just picked her up now.
Overall, I think I am pretty satisfied with Lexus service.

If you encounter a lot of pushback, don't hesitate to enroll the help of a "Lemon Law" attorney. So sorry that you're going through this.
I wonder if anyone actually was successful with doing a Lemon Law manufacturer buyback with their IS500? If so, could make for a great deal when it's fixed and then release for sale again (as most buyback cars eventually are). Only downside is the branded title from the buyback process.

Perfect example of the ONLY posts or conversations regarding the CEL and owners resolution process.
Or non resolution if applicable..

If you want to make a separate side bar thread discussing all other non related / off topic posts please make another thread…

We are trying help IS 500 owners and keep pertinent info on Top and not derail this thread further..

Thanks

Great update..!! Seems there is a pattern building for the gaskets at this point..

Lets hope this will be the simple resolution for MOST..

I’ve got covid so I can’t take my car in for service until Saturday. Went out for a joyride today though, and the CEL is still off. I dunno if the gasket possibly re-sealed itself? I fully plan on taking it in regardless though. I really love driving this car. Beats the **** out of my GTI as far as emotion goes. I do miss those seats though.

I've also got my CEL fixed today. I had my car dropped off on a Saturday morning with a loaner which was a UX250h. Master technician replaced both gasket and tested afterwards. I drove 15 miles already and nothing so far.

Thats great. I wonder if replacing the gasket is pretty much the same thing as taking the exhaust off and retightening it, because the tolerances for this air gap are so tight that any adjustment, be it replacement or refitting, will likely fix it. But from a corporate standpoint, replacing an actual part (gasket) sounds like a more official fix for both the tech and customer.
