I can see that, but would be okay if it did!

Make. It. Right. 😜

No worries, you understood exactly what I posted. 😎

We’ll see what happens!

Welp, I've had the car for about 24 hours and the CEL came on. Back to the dealership it goes.

Sucks (although still drivable), what's the build date?

You should ask for a LC500 as a loaner.

I should be taking mine in this Wednesday afternoon & I am getting a loaner. Now that a lot of IS500's have the exhaust gasket issue is it possible that Lexus HQ delegated the information to Lexus dealership service departments to let them know that there will be incoming IS500's for the same CEL issue & SOP for the fix?

Bummer @AmbyBomb
- Let them verify the CEL codes.

I suspect P013A will be the culprit.

^^ So far we don’t see an LSB issued as of yet… Below is a post I made in the other thread.

Likely to receive the corrective actions to solve this once and for all on inbound units.. They have specialized Lexus Technicians at these locations that are heavily experienced.

At the Port they can take these cars apart and put them back together and you would never know..!!

There is no way they are going back to “plant” or Japan for that matter..

That would mean the ones in the Factory are already getting the fix on the production line now, before they get out on the boats..

Naturally if the car with an issue is already at the dealership, then those Technicians will solve the problem.

Anything done at those port locations before arriving at dealership are off the grid..

I have a lead on purchasing a IS500. At this point in time do you think Lexus would of did anything to the cars sitting in dealers stock? Or is it still a crap shoot?
Thank you

Based on knowledge you have from here.. You may ask to inspect exhaust for leaks before purchasing so you don’t have to deal with it on the drive home or soon thereafter..

Not all IS 500’s are experiencing this CEL issue..

You can search my posts in this thread for detailed photos.

Worst case scenario CEL comes on take it back to the Lexus dealer for warranty with a loaner provided.

I think it’s a crap shoot still. Also PDI test drives haven’t been catching the issue. Just hope for the best. Worst case is you’ll get the CEL and have to go back to the dealer. If you’re dealing out of town maybe they’ll help pay for your “vacation,” LOL, come on guys I’m kidding!...

I definitely wouldn’t call it a crap shoot. It’s not a catastrophic failure and in the rare occasion it can’t be fixed, Lexus will step up. If you can get the car, I would.

I don’t mean to sound patronizing but all a “crap shoot” means is a random chance, not a catastrophic failure.

You do know it comes across as patronizing when you say that.

A crap shoot generally implies a risk of failure of which there is not one, since the issues are being taken care of.

Back to the topic on hand, please.

Remember the old adage: “Knowledge Is Power”.

1. If the dash lights up like a Christmas Tree, get the codes read at AutoZone or something similar. If it’s the CEL issue, then your heart rate should normalize. 😜

2. Because the CEL issue could happen, make a plan to get it serviced. e.g. If the dealership is far, rearrange your schedule to stay in the vicinity (PTO or work remote) or ensure the proper loaner is made available.

The nail biting has already been done by those who first experienced the ‘mystery error’, so go get that damn car and love every bit of it! 😎
