so i want to get rid of the usdm oem trunk spoiler that is pictured below and replace it with the jdm oem splitter which i find to much more aesthetically balanced.
the problem lies with where the drill holes are located. i tried to remove a portion of the trunk liner to but couldn't see exactly where the holes are because of the reinforced structure of the trunk lid that's interwoven under the sheetmetal.
does anyone know where the drill holes are exactly, i.e., does anyone have a diagram showing where they are as I can't find one and I can't access the holes themselves just by taking a look or i'm not looking in the right place.
below are the usdm oem spoiler (top image) and the jdm oem spoiler (bottom image) that i'd like to replace it with.
If I’m not mistaken, somebody on this forum has removed their stock spoiler and installed the Jdm spoiler in its place and it did cover the stock holes. It did not utilize the holes so they were left unused, but it did cover them. Don’t know if that was your worry or not, just throwing it out there. My jdm spoiler came with bolt posts, but I didn’t have a factory one and didn’t want to drill into my truck therefore it’s like most, 3M’d on. Three years and no issues, but I like the way it looks more than the us version as well.

So I found that exact thread and ordered the JDM spoiler already painted from lexusboutique.net and it finally arrived yesterday. It was a brutal install to be honest as it was really, REALLY difficult getting the USDM spoiler off the car as there is really no access to the expandable bolts that are on the furthest ends, so with the help of a friend, we wound up cutting the USDM spoiler in half, which wasn't pretty, and then prying either side off after removing the two center bolts.
Yes, there are going to be four large holes and it's alarming to look at but the JDM spoiler does cover these and I just used 3M automotive tape to affix the new JDM spoiler. If you're going to do this, you're going to need heavy duty GooGone or something similar because there is a ***** tonne of adhesive that will be still on the car and it's very difficult to remove if you don't have the strongest GooGone available. You'll also have to rewax/reseal the area with whatever choice of wax or seal you use after thoroughly cleaning the area with car shampoo and water. Anyhow, the end results look a lot cleaner with this spoiler compared to the old one and well worth the money spent as it transforms the look of the rear of the car.
If you're on the fence on this, I can definitely confirm that this works. There are cheaper replica options available from China/Taiwan, but I went with the OEM JDM part as I wanted the paint to match perfectly, and it does. I didn't want to deal with it painted in Taiwan or China and I also didn't want to bring the spoiler to a shop to have it painted here.

yeah, sure. i'll take a picture tomorrow and post it. the car is in the garage so it'll be a rear shot because i don't feel like moving it -- covid life and such.
