Hi,

My rear passenger door sensor (the one that monitors when the door is open or closed) is acting up and constantly signals to my main screen that the door is open, even though it isnt. I removed the small floor panel and can see the long black tube that I assume has the sensor, or wiring to the sensors, to maybe check if it was loose or something but do not know what I am exactly looking for. Looking for any help on the matter since everytime I lock my car the alarm goes off because it detects the door being open.

Its a salvage that was repaired to my knowledge...no warranty. Would they charge me to take a look at it and possibly tell me whats wrong?

 

This problem never occured before so I'm wondering if its just a loose connection or something I can easily repair on my own.

 

The first thing I was going to ask is if it has been in an accident, but the salvage title speaks for itself. I would definitely suggest checking it yourself. If you take it to the dealer, they will charge you a diagnostic fee. If you want to save yourself the headache of trying to find it, you can have them diagnose it for you, to tell you what the parts and labor will be, and then try to tackle the repair yourself. I would stay the hard part is trying to find the cause.

That is true. However, I did go to the dealer for regular maintenence when I first got the car. I think I might have said the car was salvage then Either way, i'll try to play with it tonight to see if maybe there is a loose connection that I can visibly repair. If not, ill probably have to go to the dealer...

Wow, I saw this post just in time. I was on the way to the dealership when i read through your thread. As of now super glued a small thick piece of rubber to the actual area of the door where it hits the door sensor "button" on the car. Before, while the window was down, I could pull on the closed door gently and it would beep that it was open. After applying the rubber piece I tried doing the same thing and no issue!

So far it looks good, but will keep you guys updated with its progress. Thanks again.

 

Great to hear! I first tried a less ghetto fix by shimming the actual door switch, but I didn't have the right sized 6-star driver to do it. Oh well, no one will ever notice it is there anyways.
