Lexus tried the "eyelashes" or those ribs.. Cause they think the problem was from the SUNLIGHT... But its still hapenning on the updated housings too..

No other wire that I can remeber, when I post the picture tonight you'll see what it look like but to give you an idea the inside of the LED is like a reflective dome with the LED diode sitting flat on the bottom shining up to the dome which reflects the lights out.

Maybe that ONE LED gets too HOT

I still dont think that's the case as I've played around with that damage light to track down the issue. I went as far as plugging the LED board to a power supply the pumps out 12 volts and ran it for hours without getting any bubbling the other issue why I would rule the LEDs out is that the circuit board it seld does not get any where near a temperture that it would start to melt, lift or bubble the paint.

Here are the pictures as promised.

This particular damaged lights had the bubbling I scraped the damaged part off and painted it black from the underside. I was going to apply some reflective tape but I never did as I ended up not using the light.

Thanks the pics.... I'm convinced its not a wire or the LEDs. Looks like its definitely the projector. So it looks like there are 2 options to avoid this issue... 1) projector retrofit, or 2) aim your projector to the sky!.... Lol

For the 2nd option to work... I think you may actually have to disable the AFS feature as well though... This would prevent the projector from pointing lower when there is a car in front of you. I know this may be annoying to oncoming traffic, but hey at least my lights won't bubble

Please don't encourage people to aim their headlights higher. It's not just annoying, it's primarily a safety issue. When it's oncoming traffic, you're temporarily blinded for a second or two, and when this happens on a curve it's especially dangerous. When it's someone behind you, your rear view mirror is rendered useless.

It's only more annoying than unsafe when that person is just behind you at a stoplight.

People just often don't have any idea how blinding their headlights are because they're never in the OTHER car at night.

This is off-topic but does anyone know if the early 2012 headlights with the eyebrows and flat finish above the LED's have the same LED color as the late 2012 model with a glossy finish above the LED's (Both 2012 versions - just one is current, the other one is the first 2012 version)?

Anyone had this happen again after the fix?

I noticed about a month ago that mine had the same issue again with the revised headlights. Took it to the Lexus dealer and they do not want to do anything about it. Apparently they called Lexus about it and they told them that they suspect I have aftermarket bulbs since they replaced them already and it happened again. Or the other option they gave was that I park somewhere where a solar panel is beaming on to that one particular spot on both headlights. I can't even begin to explain how crazy that sounds.

That does sound crazy. It's definitely the projectors.

I would like to share a tip since mine have been installed for over a year and a half without any bubbling.

I actually did what I suggested on my earlier post. I have adjusted my lights slightly higher, not to the point they are pointing too high to be distracting to on coming traffic, but definitely higher than my old headlights used to be.

For those of you that have the latest updated headlights and have the bubbling defect: how much night driving do you do? Mine are fine but the last thing I want is for them to bubble when my warranty runs out.

I had mine done and they put an older version in and it did it again. Took it back with the part numbers they should have put in and they did it again, this time no issues.

took mine in today to have the oil changed and brought up the TSB guy said he never heard of it in the IS only on the RX models. Also said the big thing right now for the IS is the sticky dash recall which if applicable will be sent out here shortly.

Told him to give me a minute while I found it and printed it out to show him and then he was looking at the actual lense of the light and said he couldn't see anything. Even though it was perfectly clear and pretty bubbled over. He had the tech look at it and boom he went straight to parts to get the new lights ordered and will be replaced sometime next week!

Hopefully I get the right ones the first time.

Cheers!
