Smile key on remote

hey everyone,
I hope y'all had a great New Years. I was wondering two things:
1) What is the key on the remote for?
2) What do to get in my car if my remote battery dies?

Thanks everyone,
I love y'all

I think you answered your own question..

If the fob does not work for any reason, you can pop off a bit of plastic next to the handle that covers up the keyhole. Then, you use the key from your fob as you would use any key.

Even if the fob dies, the car will still sense it and you will be able to start it. Perhaps someone else can give a better explanation for this....

the key is to lock the glove box and center console when you give the remote to the valet parking

umm.... good question on the battery though....

ISDSMS answered the key part. You pop off the plastic piece on the door handle next to the button, and you can put your key into that hole and open the door. Once you are inside the car, hold your foot on the brake and place the fob right onto the start button until the light on the button turns on, then you should be able to press the button and start the car.

it's kinda tough to explain how it works exactly so you might want to check the first couple of chapters of the owner's manual if you already have the car.

The key will actually tell the IS if the battery in it is dying. It will then send a message on the info screen (the one on the speedo where you can see the temperature and such) notifying you that the key needs a battery change.

lol if you really care... like most of us.. read the manual .......... again.. but if you don't want to.. hold th key close to the start button until the light comes on... every key has a chip like every other car out there... and if close enough.. the car should be able to sense the chip.. kind of hard to explain.. but then again... manual
