My remote key was stolden and I had to get a locksmith to make me a new key to get into and start my car. This was just a regular key with no remote features.

They yesterday the police recovered my key and all the features work on the old remote, except iit now will not start the car. What is the problem and what do I have to do to now start the car with the key?
