My key fob works with 3X lock/hold but when I attempt to open driver side door, engine shuts off. Shouldn't door then open whithout engine shutting of as long as key is in my possession?

That is normal behavior on RES in my '12.

Yes that's expected behavior according to some members here. I also didn't like it as my other cars would start and engine stays on while entering the car with key is in my possession

I just had a compustar setup installed in my 2014. 3x on the lock button on the oem fob starts the vehicle. I also have the drone mobile app for feedback, status and tracking of the vehicle. App allows vehicle to be started from anywhere. You have the option of a compustar fob. It will have longer range than oem fob, but you need to carry a second fob.

I paid much less than $600 installed, but I also have a good relationship with local installer. I have had great luck with compustar setups.

Do you know what all is needed to complete the install? I see the compustar module on Amazon for $99 but it talks about it may need additional harness and a specific harness if the system is a low or high current. May need to do more research on my own to be confident but I would like to install this on my own. Since my vehicle is a 2016 model year, I unfortunately cannot just buy the OEM RES module.

Currently, in my location, CarToys is selling the Compustar for $380 which includes a "basic" install. Yeah no thanks, I know they will try and gather as much money as they can from you on top of this package.

I don't know the specifics.

I had "my guy" that I've used for 15 yrs do mine a month ago on my 2014. I paid more than $380, but I had an lte box installed to allow the use of their drone mobile app.

I got a month of premium service included with the install. On their black Friday deal, I renewed for 5 yrs for 2.99 a month for their basic service.

I'd check local facebook and forum pages to see if there is a recommended installer and talk to them about the specifics. This is my 4th compustar system. Each time they get better and better.

I would like to have the same functionality as the remote start on my Highlander, but I understand that they went to an app based solution. My question is if I get the 12volt solutions kit will it work out of the box or do I have to bite the bullet and get the monthly Lexus subscription.
