Default Remote start for GX470?

My brother just bought a 2009 GX470 and was looking into getting an
after market remote start. Anybody know of brands and functions
of remote start that should be considered? Thanks.

I don't but someone in the HID thread below mentioned they have remote start. Might want to check it out and PM them. Good luck!

We have a remote start on ours but we bought it like that from the dealership. I don't know if Iwill be able to tell what kind it is by looking at it,but,I will check it out tomorrow and let you know. Its great if you live in a cold climate.

We got Viper 5900 SST 1 mile range on our 04 GX470. Battery life isn't the greatest but my wife loves the long range. I would look into Viper Products either Viper5900 or Viper5701. Stay with DEI products such as Viper, Clifford, Avitar, Python.

Wow, the dealer told my brother "remote start" is not an available option on the GX?

Your GX came with "remote start" from the dealer?

I should clarify that.We bought our GX470 from the dealership. It was CPO ,and it did come with a remote starter but I do not know if the dealership installed it or the previous owner. Two weeks ago,we bought a CPO RX330 and that too,had the same remote starter. Coincidence??I do not know.

I too have the Viper with the 1 mile range. I agree on the battery life but it works great.

I asked two dealers about remote start. One dealer did an after-market install at the dealership with a cost of around $600. The other dealer took all cars needing remote start to a small auto remote start installer and had them do the work. I cut out the middle man and took to to this company myself and saved some $. The Viper cost me around $375.

Works great and is nice to have here in New England.

Hoonami

I purchased a gx470 a year ago with a remote starter, but I can not remember how to start it. I am holding down the unlock button within 5 feet of the vehicle but no start.

We have the Astrostart Model 2504A.. Purchased from the dealer. Installed by one of their aftermarket shops. Wife loves it.. Both the Lexus and Acura dealers in this area (NW suburb of Chicago) swear by it........ 1 mile range.
