Default Door Check Pin Replacement

Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster, I did a search of the forums and found a great post for an LS, but not for the the 4G GS.

I recently bought a 2014 GS350 and the driver side door check is a little loose. I know I could replace the entire assembly, but the issue appears to be the large pin in the centre of the door check arm (the one you can see when the door is open, so no photo at this time).

I am wondering if I can just replace the pin itself (as I think this will fix the problem) and what the part number is for this pin?

Thanks for any help!

Little bit of digging looks like there is no separate part for the pin. The solution looks to be a full replacement of the door check.

You're right, it doesn't look like they sell just the pin (which would likely be less than $20). For a cheaper price, your best bet is to see if there is something aftermarket or something on eBay.

This is the best price I found from US Dealers for the full assembly: https://www.discountpartsmonster.com...eck-6862030130

If it's sold separately it's probably aftermarket and you don't want to go down that path.

Buy from Amayama, they ship via DHL Express, I've ordered before and gotten things in less than a week. The prices in Japan as so much less than the US markup.

Thanks for this. I am in Canada and found a local supplier that isn't too badly priced, but I will compare this site as it should still work out a bit cheaper.

I would think most any body shop would have replacement door check pins in their stock, with a Lexus body shop in particular carrying them. I think most hardware stores probably carry a supply of various sizes of door check pins too.

HERE is a link to a CL thread about replacing a door check pin on an old LS400.

Thanks! Saw that thread and that's what got me thinking I could replace the pin and not the whole assembly. I'll check with some body shops and see.

Yeah, I would think most body shops have an assortment of door check pins, but maybe not the correct one for your car - but worth checking though. I guess you could have a pin made (fabricated) the correct size, but finding the whole assembly at a junk yard would be better.

I'm guessing the pin is likely pressed-in and will have to be driven out and the new one driven or pressed-in place. I'd be very careful not to apply too much force on the assembly or the arm that might cause it to bend out of shape.
